Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers tours on an appointment-only basis. Tours are held in the afternoon, on Mon, Wed, and Sat at 2pm. Email to make reservations. Children under 5 are free. Guests will be given a guided tour of the compound by an experienced wildlife professional. An introduction to each species, basic biology, and how the species arrived at our sanctuary will be discussed in detail. Visitors will be allowed a close-up view of the exotic animals, and will be able to venture closer to adult African lions and tigers than they ever imagined. Guests will meet our amazing white tigers, orange tigers, a very rare golden tabby tiger, cougars, servals, lynxes, leopards, hyenas, coati mundis, and a host of wolves ranging in color from black to white. We feed all of the big cats on the tours, and set up a tiger bubblebath for at least one tiger. We do not allow photography, however, we do offer a fabulous photo CD for a small donation.

It was an awesome tour, got to learn the stories about the animals and how they got there, some were sad but glad they are in a place that cares and loves them. We will definitely visit again in the future. Thank you to the staff for an awesome visit.

Even though our tour group was very large, the volunteers took care of everyone. They answered all our questions and made sure everyone had enough water. The animals were beautiful.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the tour. In addition to providing an in-depth overview about each animal represented, the reserve provided interesting accounts about each one, sharing personal stories involving how they came to the compound. It is most definitely an engaging thing to do with children while in St. Augustine. Our kids were engrossed from beginning to end. We highly recommend taking advantage of this up-close wildlife experience.

We came here to see a different experience and have a nice family outing for a decent price. We did not realize we would be so close to the animals they do the tour about 5 feet away which was nice and they were feeding the animals at the same time so it was cool for kids to see that so close. The tour guide was very passionate about the animals and the sanctuary itself you can tell they work really hard to keep up the place. I wish they would allow people to take pictures it would have been a more a more enjoyable experience in my opinion but overall it was nice.

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the tour of the reserve. The love, and time that has been put into caring for these animals is astounding. This is by far one of the best sanctuaries I have ever had the privilege of visiting. All of the animals have huge enclosures, and outstanding volunteers who care for them. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to see, and learn so much about the animals in the St. Augustine Wild Reserve. Don’t pass up an opportunity to visit!
