We recently stayed 2 nights at the Penny Farthing, and can recommend it without reservation. The hosts were lovely and helpful. They made special accommodations for us to be on the ground floor, as well as leaving our information for us if we arrived late. Highly recommended!

On checking in to the Penny Farthing, our British hostess made us feel extremely welcome. It was "happy hour" and she was serving complimentary wine. The Victorian decor on the main floor was very charming. She showed us what "penny farthing" is - an old Victorian bicycle with the front wheel smaller than the back wheel, Our room, "The Victorian", was upstairs (I am not sure the inn has any ground floor rooms). It opens onto a large porch across the whole front of the house, which we enjoyed sitting on very much. There is free internet, and we found sherry and glasses in our room, very gracious. The hotel was an easy walk to St. Augustine's Historic District, including St. George Street. When we got back after a fun evening out, we found a platter of fresh-baked cookies. The next morning we were served a bountiful hot breakfast! St. Augustine is our favorite town for a weekend getaway, and now the Penny Farthing is our favorite hotel there.

Thank you for your wonderful review, we like our guest to feel like family members when they arrive. We have kept the Victorian decors, our guests feel like there stepping back in time. Every day we have Happy hour between 4pm and 6pm guests enjoy mingling with other guest having a glass of wine or tea, and some cookies, or scones, and cheese and crackers.

Lovely old rambling house, most rooms have private balconies or porches. Excellent breakfast served outdoors in good weather. Great location for walking everywhere, and it has on site parking.

Nice extras....happy hour with fresh baked cookies, complementary sherry in rooms.

Very nice staff, high quality linens, etc.

One of the best B&Bs we've stayed at.

Laura and the family welcomed us like we were long lost friends. The accommodation is quirky in a delightful way. It is a Victorian building which is excellently laid out to accommodate 8 rooms all different. The afternoon wine with nibbles was so thoughtful and the icing on the cake. Breakfast outstanding Could not fault it at all

I've been here for only a few hours now,but already know this is going to be wonderful. First, it's a darling, sprawling house. It's very clean and feels like you're visiting dear friends. Other guests are friendly and everyone seems relaxed. The location is in the historic district a block away from Flagler College and only a few blocks & easy walk from the historic square. Parking is free! The lot is pea gravel so plan on stopping by the entrance to unload luggage because it won't roll. I'm in the York room on the first floor, but be aware that there are about five steps up from the parking lot.

It's the perfect size for someone traveling alone. It would also be good for a couple who doesn't plan on spending a lot of time in the room. There is a lovely shared covered porch right outside the door so no sense staying cooped up! The porch has five tables and wicker chairs so is very pleasant and there's a nice breeze.

The room has everything needed...a nice sized bathroom with jacuzzi tub, comfy bathrobes, a comfortable bed, TV and DVD player (movie library in the main house). Sherry and bottled water is provided, as is a luggage rack.

Tea, wine, cake and crackers with tea is served from 5 -9 in a delightful little dining room. Breakfast is served starting at 8:30. Tomorrow is Eggs Benedict.

I will be back!
