Jackson’s advertises itself as a fine dining establishment and says groups are well-accommodated. I beg to differ. We ate here on a weekday with a group of 18. Our party had advance reservations. Admittedly, we were given a private room that worked well for our meeting/lunch format, however that was the end of the good news. The menu selections were pretentious and overpriced, the food mediocre. Service was abominable. Since we decided to order a caesar salad thinking that would be hard to mess up and a dessert, we tried to order the dessert at the same time as the salad. They didn’t want to combine the salad with the dessert. Meals were slow to arrive, and, of course, by the time the server came around to let us order the creme brulee, most of the others in the group had finished eating and were asking for checks. We and a few others waited and waited for our desserts, until many at the table had gone in search of their checks and paid their bills. When the dessert arrived, it was tasty but served cold. Not at all what I expected. There was another long wait for our checks, which finally arrived after almost everyone else had left. I should note that the restaurant was not busy. Only two or three tables were occupied at the time we were there. Caveat: Avoid this snobby place with a party of more than two.

Service team all were wonderful, cheery and trying hard to please. All the items apps to entree for our table of 7 were raves. Nice round table too. Free Martini with every entree is a first I've seen and what a nice perk! Sophisticated and casual elegance. They nailed it.

This place is located in downtown Pensacola. I recommend reservations. We had a reservation for 4 at 630 and didn’t leave until 10 because we were enjoying the experience. The ambiance included low lighting, clean, and easily able to hear with. Everyone was dressed nicely even though the website says Florida casual.
We were immediately seated, offered water, and provided bread service(the rosemary focaccia bread is worth it). Our waiter Kyle expertly manag d our table and provided us with an “encyclopedia “ of choices that helped us determine what to order on the more than generous menu offerings. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and the white was kept cold for us off table but brought back so that our glass was never empty. Our table order appetizers, entrees, sides, salad, and dessert. The steaks were superb and portioned correctly. The snapper was whole and none was left. The Gouda macaroni was eagerly eaten and the blue cheese salad was large enough for 3. Deserts were still ordered and devoured. The total for the table was about $300 including tip. Worth every dollar for the care and delicious food. We will be back because there are at least 15 more items in the menu we want to try.

New homeowners to Portofino from Nashville & I have bonded over our love for great food & great food experiences. So, after a relaxing Portofino morning, & a fun visit to Luxe Sleep for a pj party, we were hungry! I gave my guests 5 options all the way from Jerry’s Drive Inn to Five Sisters Blues Cafe, the Fish House, Atlas, & Jacksons. Having talked steaks, Jackson’s was it. We were tight on time, it being 1:20. A quick call to Barbara assured us the perfect table, we were met by the manager Alex & proceeded to have lots of fun, laughter, & amazing food!

The martini’s ordered & tested, I sought advice from Alex. You see, I had bragged on Jackson’s food, it was Alan & Barbara’s first visit, and the options were broad & enticing. Tuesday was Prime Rib day, which enticed Alan, & Barbara & I kept looking at seafood options. Finally, I sought Alex’s opinion of the one offering he thought Jackson’s excells at. Voila!

The kitchen did a lunch version of a Jackson’s filet offering, stacked tall with finely prepared fried green tomatoes & pure white crab meat in a light sauce~~~~yes, we would have that, Alan & I, and Barbara chose the amazing crab & fried green tomatoes salad topped with amazing bacon [yes, I received a Piece of bacon~~delicious! ]. Our food experience was pure perfection, the entire experience was unanimously agreed to be a 5 on a scale of 5.

Truly, Alex, Barbara, & all the staff made this first visit for Barbara & Alan a tasty & fun one. That means a lot to a guest & I am grateful for the gracious service, professional staff, & frankly the entire camaraderie amongst all the staff, from waiters to bartender to management & the famous chef Irv Miller. In fact, on the way out, Barbara & Alan had the chance to chat with Chef Irv, the talented mind behind the sumptuous food Jackson’s produces!

PS: you might not know that Jackson’s offers a very special 5 pm & later offering: 2 glasses of wine & your choice of appetizer for only $20. Try it. Get to know the wonderful managers Alex & Romeo, check out Chef Irv Miller’s cook books, & give them the opportunity to show you just how great their food really is! We shall be back soon!
