We had a group of 11 (3 families) - 4 adults and 7 kids ranging from 3 years old to 16. They couldn't have done things better to make sure everyone was comfortable and enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately we were going out right after Sub-tropical Storm Alberto, but they were so good about calling us regarding weather updates and the impact to our trip. They even called to make sure we had the correct directions to their dock. This attention to detail wasn't lost when we got on the boat either.
They gave a good safety talk to the kids on the dock putting things in terms they could all understand and used humor appropriately to keep their attention. They took us right out to where the dolphins were. Unfortunately the water was still murky from the storm so you had poor visibility once in the water, but the captain made due by driving us around to the different pods. He even tried getting them to "surf" the wake. We saw 3 dolphins riding the waves further back and did have 1 swim toward the boat and jump fully out of the water as if on cue. We got to see lots of dolphins from the boat.
The second hour was spent snorkeling in shallow water (3-4') behind the barrier island where the water was very calm. This is where the engagement with the kids excelled. The captain got in the water and brought different sea life and shells up, placing them in a bucket of water and then teaching the kids about them. There were live sanddollars, a blue crab, urchins, a sea star, a puffer fish and a jelly fish along with multiple shells. This kids could touch them or look at them very closely. (Everything was safely released back into the water.) Again the water was somewhat murkey from the storm, but the kids still could see things on the bottom and could swim down to get shells too.
Overall this outing really exceeded my expectations especially given the conditions following the storm. I would easily recommend them to anyone and would use them again in the future.
Our trip for two families totaling 11 people, including children ages 6-15 and my mom who is 75 yrs old was a terrific experience. The water was choppy but we still got to swim very closely with several pods of dolphins. We even got to see a baby dolphin swimming with its mama. Captain Dane was a great guide, providing lots of information and bringing buckets full of sea creatures up for the kids and adults alike to experience. This was a highlight of our trip and we hope to do it again on our next Florida visit!!! Thanks from Ohio and Illinois!
We not only got to see several pods with dolphins, but actually got to swim with them. One of them even played with us for a little bit. They made sure that every one of use had a great time. Experience of a lifetime, and the owners were awesome, too!
Captain Dane and his fiancee Kim were awesome. A dolphin swam up under us and touched are feet. Best excursion.
This was by far our favorite trip while visiting PCB! We seen a ton of dolphins, got to swim with a bunch! Captain Dane was an amazing captain, FANTASTIC with kids! Very interactive with my kiddos and made us feel right at home. He went over everything so well and we felt safe every step of the way. He has so much knowledge of the area and where the best stops are! This is a MUST to do on your bucket list and on your PCB trip list!! You won’t be disappointed! I have a ton of of dolphin pics but they are on my underwater camera!
We spotted approximately 20 - 25 dolphins finally at the encouragement of Captain Ryan I jumped in for an amazing experience. Check that one off the bucket list...
