We stayed here two nights a couple of weeks ago. We had a guest room in the last building of the main complex with a partial ocean view. To be honest the view wasn't the greatest and the little peak of the ocean was more of a tease than anything else but the room rate was excellent and so we didn't feel that we had room to complain. The weather in Florida was very cold while we were there but we made the best of it. Ocean Pointe kept their pools and hot tubs at a perfect temperature for swimming and soaking.

The resort is kept incredibly clean and is clearly well attended. While we were there they were installing new flat screen televisions in our building. Our guest room was clean and had a microwave and small fridge. Having dishes and utensils is an added bonus and enabled us to bbq supper on one of their bbq grills and enjoy a meal on our little balcony.

Our middle daughter made excellent use of the kids activities and the staff in this area were excellent. They paid special attention to the kids and made sure that there were lots of activities, this really helped to offset the inconvenience of the unseasonably cold temperatures.

The surrounding area does not have many amenities but we found that we really appreciated hitting the grocery store once and then just crashing at the resort, it was nice not to move the car from the garage for two days.

We walked on the beautiful beach in front of the resort and we felt completely safe going all the way up the beach. This is important to note since last year when we were in Miami we were robbed in broad daylight so the fact that we felt safe in the area even after that experience has to mean something. The area around the resort is aging and that cannot be ignored but I honestly don't believe that it is as bad as some of the reviewers expressed.

The internet is free and it is wireless but please be aware that it is not the best of service. When we were here in March of 2009 we had the same problems with the internet that we experienced once again on this trip. The internet just isn't the best quality, the connection drops suddenly and regularly and this is a pain.

The villas and lock-offs are in desperate need of a makeover, and I understand the process has already begun with the Sailfish building. But again in Florida we spend time outdoors, as usually the weather co-operates.

So the beauty here are the four pools, grounds, facilities and activities. Not to mention the beach which is very expansive. The old Ocean Mall is undergoing a complete redo and there are already two buidings that look look like they are almost complete. You will need a car as there are a lack of restaurants on the island ( which is really a peninsula). Don't miss the Sailfish Marina Complex which has an excellent restaurant albeit pricey. There is one grocery store, kind of like a small IGA. If you require anything you will have to venture to Palm Beach Gardens about a 15-20 minute ride where you will find everything. Closer by Is Riviera Beach, a very depressed unsafe area, where about the only place I would go to is the Walgreens just over the bridge..daytime only.

Aside from these nuances, it's a great resort. Remember this is a timeshare property, you will be approached but that's about it. There are much more aggressive sales folks elsewhere.

This was an amazing resort located right on the beach. The pools were wonderful, and there were bbq's and plenty of places to rest and relax throughout the resort. It was safe, clean, and the rooms were comfortable. It had a full activities schedule. The staff was incredibly gracious, and we would so stay here again. It was great for both families, couples and singles, and is conveniently located near shopping and dining.

The one bedroom unit in the Pompano bldg. was lovely altho it did overlook a parking lot and an ugly old pink motel next to the Marriott's property. On the positive side - unit was roomy and well appointed, pool and beach areas were great, gym was convenient and staff tried to please. Negatives were the surrounding area was depressing, conceirge service was spotty, it was a pretty long drive to anywhere we wanted to go. We've stayed at other Marriott vacation villas that were in such lovely settings that there is no reason to this one. Disappointing.

Ok. so my husband made this booking. Initially I was very skeptical but after looking at the pics online etc...this placed seemed very nice. We drove down from Orlando to Palm Beach Shores. Compared to Orlando this area seems like a run-down version of Jersey shores. Old houses, run down places, empty malls. The hotel building looked nice from outside but as you step inside you will be welcomed by old doors in the lobby that take forever to open. The rooms inside are very spacious and the staff tries very hard to please you but the furniture, the room design the area outside the hotel just seem old and run down. The pool area seemed ok not pristine but swimmable. We stayed at a Hilton for a week prior to coming here so in that respect this was a stark contrast. But, this place offers great activites for families and kids. It seems to have a great sense of community, more people were out by the pool socializing etc...The staff tries very hard to please you. However, we were looking for something classy and romantic and this place wasn't what we expected. The whole area on the whole seems a bit run down. Hence, we were just planning on driving down to Miami or Boca Raton and spending our time there and coming here essentially just to sleep. With that said, this may still work out well if you are ok with little old place and not that classy place. It is great for families but we were looking for something more classy & romantic. Oh! by the way, we were promised an ocean front room but got something at a lower floor (2nd floor, initially it was 1st floor w/a building view then we after some pleading they moved us to the 2nd)
