Description: Charley's Steak House has created a unique dining experience unsurpassed in the industry. The restaurant's namesake, Charley Woodsby, co-founder of the Red Lobster chain, was honored by the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. After selling Red Lobster to General Mills in 1970, Charley and his son Ron Woodsby developed Talk of the Town Restaurants - the corporate parent to Charley's Steak House. Over the years the Woodsby's have become "beef aficionados" with a steadfast formula for success: feature only Midwest grain-fed USDA Prime & Choice beef, age on-site for 4 to 6 weeks, and have management cut meat daily and season for 30 hours to create distinctive flavor. The steak is then flame-grilled over a 1200° open pit, fueled with a combination of Florida citrus & oak wood. This carefully monitored process provides for quality, tenderness and a tantalizing taste that elevates Charley's to the ultimate steakhouse experience. Since its inception, Charley's Steak House has prided itself on being a traditional steakhouse. But with the rise in number of savvy diners came the need to evolve the definition of 'steakhouse'. Instituting a corporate chef and placing managing chefs at each location, Charley's has advanced into a traditional steakhouse with culinary flair featuring chef-driven appetizers and entrees as well as established menu items.

Came here while in town on business trip based on its reviews and rankings.

Either we had an "off night" or (hopefully) this is not the norm of a fine dining restaurant nowadays.

First, our food (steaks) were great. Quality and cooking on caliber as you'd expect for a Fine Dining Steakhouse.

The service and clientele on the other hand, is not even in same league of other fine dining restaurants.

We had multiple waiters (not ours) almost yelling across the restaurant (like what you'd find in a cheap highway rest stop). The waiter for the table next to ours, was leaning against our booth post rocking back and forth, while he was talking to his table. Another waitress who was taking orders from an adjacent table, stopped mid-order when one of her fellow employees was leaving for the evening, to chat/say good night for 10-15secs, of which the looks on a couple of her customers at her table was "Hello, we're sitting here".

The clientele and how they dress & behave says a lot about a restaurant as well.

During our dinner, this guy came in solo dressed in a workout exercise outfit, was seated nearby, and after he got settled, pulled out his gym bag and removed his shirt and changed into a collared shirt IN THE DINING AREA, in front of his table.

Others looked like typical tourists (this is Orlando) wearing bermuda shorts and Disney t-shirts.

So much for a dress code at a fine dining restaurant.

The food was good quality and prepared well as stated above, but given the unprofessional service and clientele, will not be back and given the prices, better off going to Mortons or Ruth's Chris.

This is a very pretentious and rather overpriced steakhouse. The filet was average in both taste and tenderness. The salmon and swordfish entrees were delicious as were the vegetables.

I'm a bit late doing this review. We visited a few weeks back while on holiday to Orlando. This was the best meal we have ever had. The food was amazing. The drinks were outstanding and our server Jane was very efficient. A visit to this restaurant is a must while visiting Orlando.
