Two night stay with family, perfect for Universal visit. Enjoyed the "related property" benefits of early entry for Wizarding World of Harry Potter, breakfast at Three Broomsticks that came with Doubletree + AAA package.
Nice high rise, some rooms facing universal with good view especially high floors with floor to ceiling windows (including for new Universal fireworks as well as distant view of Disney Epcot and Magic Kingdom).
Doors thin, air flow felt around connecting door to next room - stuffed items (small laundry items and tissues) in crevice around the door to reduce sound of conversations next door (we didn't want to know the details of their conversations).
Clean.
Fridge in room.
Staff members very friendly.
Breakfast buffet had wonderful array of hot and cold choices, nicely arranged, helpful but not overbearing waitstaff.
Walk to Universal parks entrance ~10-12 minutes at moderate pace.
Parking charge, plenty of space when we were there (early summer).
The fee for WiFi is listed as "pay per device", but they removed all charges as stated for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members.

I am use to paying for valet, parking and bell services in a hotel any normal traveler would be but I have to say the valet and bell staff at this hotel was the best I have ever seen. It was so hot outside and they brought me water while waiting for my car. Amazing! The Manager John LaFleur was outstanding he greeted every guests and was out in the hot sun shaking hands. The front desk staff needs some work, they act as if you are bugging them so I just stopped asking them for help and ask a bellmen as they seem more knowledgeable anyway. I love how close we where to Universal and getting to see the fireworks at night from our room was outstanding. The House of Blues was amazing the food was so good and the music was fabulous.

Room Tip: I always stay on the highest floor available.

The hotel's wifi is pay per device. Unacceptable nickel and diming of guests. I just called and asked to seak with the property manager, and the person I spoke with told me that there is no property manager. Due to the obvious incompetence here on property, I will take the matter up with Hilton corporate. $40 for 2 days of wifi? Outrageous, especially whe I was just in a Marriott where it was free.

We recently spent a week at Doubletree and were very happy with our stay there. We booked the hotel because it looked like a good quality hotel near to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. This proved to be a good decision and Doubletree also proved to be a good base from which to visits other places in Orlando.

We were allocated a room on the 16th floor which provided very nice views and you could even just see the fireworks at Universal in the late evening. Our room was spacious with two double beds and nice fixtures. There was also a good coffee machine which was nice to use each morning. The air conditioning worked well (although it was too loud to have on at night which led to a few warm nights). Our room didn't seem to be directly adjacent to other rooms so we didn't have any noise from nextdoor which was a good bonus. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and other facilities. We didn't have breakfast at Doubletee because it seemed pricey so we went to nearby diners on a few occasions.

You could choose to book onto the shuttle bus to Universal but it is definitely possible to walk to there, it takes about 15 to 20 mins. Once you have crossed the busy road, there is a pleasant riverside walkway and before long you are at Universal. Bear in mind that there is a lot of walking once you get to Universal itself so if you prefer to take a taxi on the way home in the evening, as we did, it costs about $5.

If you want to visit other attractions such as Seaworld, you can use the hotel concierge to book onto the free bus from the hotel (or you can take the "I Trolley" which runs from a stop just near to the hotel. It costs only a few dollars). We used the free bus for Seaworld and the I Trolley to visit the Premium Outlet mall. On a separate note, the hotel concierge quickly and efficiently helped us to book a day trip to Miami and the Everglades which was excellent.

If you are looking for a very good quality hotel near to Universal, we do recommend Doubletree. If we visit Universal again in the future, we will definitely book this Doubletree.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor (we were on the 16th floor) as there is a good view and it is also pr...

Hotel is located in the Universal area. Very convenient if you want to enjoy Universal Studios, Sea World, etc. If you are hoping to go to Disney, you either need to rent a car or pay $50 cab ride EACH way (yes, that's $100 round trip). Hotel is also a $51 cab ride to the Airport.

We rented a car from Avis (located inside the hotel) for $129 for two days, which allowed us to go to Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney, etc.

Hotel was in great shape and service was excellent. Hotel-wise it's great.
