“Relaxing and Beautiful Resort! Location is amazing!”
Reviewed 15 May 2012

My husband and I have stayed at the Yacht Club on two separate occasions and already feel that this is our home away from home. Our first stay was for a business conference and we returned for our 4th Wedding Anniversary. All of the staff (from the Front Desk to Housekeeping) were pleasant and accomodating. The rooms are clean and fresh and if you are lucky enough to book a room with views of the Boardwalk and Crescent Lake you may never want to leave! The walk around the Boardwalk in the morning is so beautiful and relaxing. We loved the easy stroll to Epcot. We read other reviews that you could walk to Hollywood Studios. It is certainly possible, but be prepared for a hike!
After a long day in the parks, we loved riding the bus back to the Yacht Club and hearing "welcome home". We stayed at a different 4-star hotel on a recent weekend trip and quickly decided that $100 more per night for the Yacht Club was well worth it! This is by far our favorite resort at Disney.

Generally good value in a fantastic location for accessing the parks, Boardwalk etc. It is billed as a Disney Deluxe hotel, in the same bracket as the Grand Floridian, but to be honest they really aren't the same level at all.
Don't get me wrong, it was nicely done, very clean, and comfortable, and the service was typically Disney - excellent, but if you are expecting a 5-star luxury room, you will be a little disappointed.
Definitely the quieter, more grown-up resort between the two (Beach & Yacht). Generally, and as with all things Disney though - its all very well done!

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the main bay area, overlooking the boardwalk - much nicer view.

Hands down, the Yacht club is my favorite Disney Resort....and I have stayed at almost all of them! The pool is by far the best resort pool I have ever been to. It's enormous, has a really cool shallow end perfect for toddlers and small children with a sandy bottom, and a really neat waterslide for the bigger kids. The location could not be more perfect either. You can literally walk to Epcot center (there is an entrance between England and France), take a boat to Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk, or just hang out poolside and enjoy a relaxing day. At night they have a campfire and movie by the lagoon and kids can make S'mores. The ice cream shop Beaches and Cream is right next to the pool and has decent food and excellent sundaes. The character breakfast at Cape May inside the Beach Club is excellent and reasonably priced. Minnie, Donald, and Goofy come right over to your table and there's plenty of time to take pictures with each one. The buffet has a good variety and our service was great. I would highly recommend this resort to families with children of any age, especially if you don't want to visit the parks every single day of your vacation. There is so much to enjoy without ever leaving your hotel.

Back from our Disney holiday where we stayed in the Disney Yacht Club for 7 Nights and then onto Animal Kingdom Hotel for a further two nights.
Firstly flew with Virgin Atlantic into Orlando and both service and experience with them with the kids was excellent - would recommend them again.
Onto hotel - its a Disney hotel that's in there high end category but for us it's getting a little dated to be honest. We all shared one room with two large beds and it wasn't a huge room but adequate. Decor and facilities where ok, nothing to impress nor to warrant the high price tag !
Restaurant choice is ok - but this is the States and after a while the food becomes the same old stuff without much variation and its expensive for what it is. We didn't book any disney dining plan and got a simple breakfast in the hotels little take away cafe in the mornings - which was ok but again basic !
We were out at the Disney parks most of the time so the hotel wasn't too much of an issue, it was in the boardwalk area which I would recommend as this had some good places to eat and see, our favourite was the Flying Fish as we could get 'Decent Vegetables' there ! Also we discovered that two hotels we had ruled out, the Swan and Dolphin, are in the boardwalk area and these looked more modern and up to date - in future we may venture to one of these as a cheaper but better alternative.
Staff in hotel are friendly, helpful and efficient - Disney wouldn't allow anything else and they did sort a few things out for us. But be warned, trying to make dinner reservations through them for other resort restaurants at Epcot etc. was like pulling teeth - you need to do this with plenty of notice to ensure you get the availability you want. We had a room that overlooked the boardwlak lake, which was fab on an evening as we could see the Epcot fireworks everynight which the kids loved (and we did too !)
There is a super ferry boat service from the hotel to the boardwalk and Epcot so no need to get the buses etc. but to get to other parks etc. means a bus ride which is situated directly outside the hotel and is a breeze. That assumes you are going to a Disney Park or Water Park, for all other non-disney stuff you'll need to get a cab - which are expensive again so be warned !!
The disney parks were awesome, as you'd expect, but the food was rubbish in every way ! However, Epcot is the exception as this has a wide variety of places to eat - would recommend the Japanese it was excellent but costly ! All other parks etc. serve the usual Burgers, Pizza, Fries rubbish not a green veg in sight ! Our boy has a wide taste pallet and he struggled to be honest, but the sights and sounds more than made up for it.
On the parks - get there as soon as they open if you can and head to the main rides etc. as the queues will be very small and you will get on them quickly. You can then chill out and enjoy the rest of the day and I would definitely recommend using the FastPass service. Our kids are 4 and 7 and we found plenty for them to go on and enjoy - but be warned at the end of the day your little treasures will be exhausted so take a pram for younger ones just in case !!
Our final stop was at Animal Kingdom and this was fab !!! We stayed in a similar size room but its much newer and has better facilities we felt - both from eating and general other stuff. The pool here was excellent and much better than the Yacht Club - which to be fair was being re-furbished (something they didn't tell us as the time I made the booking !).
There is also a super restaurant type shop in the Animal Kingdom hotel which has a wide variety of stuff you can eat in or take away so we used this place for breakfast.
The Animal Kingdom park is also fabulous and well worth a visit - Disney has done this incredibly well and you don't feel it's too much like a zoo !
Anyway we had a great holiday and came back thoroughly exhausted - if you do go organise your days and trips well in advance so you have an itenary before you go otherwise you will just go into overload and not really know where to go or what to see.
Finally, if we go again then I would be tempted to look at the Swan or Dolphin hotels or stay in a Villa close by but being careful on the taxi expenses etc.

Everything about the resort was great. The rooms are starting to look a little dated as they haven't changed since I was there 15 years ago except the TV and clock radio. Even though the rooms are slightly dated, they still are fantastic, clean and spacious. The only thing I wish the hotel would change is for their clock radio's to be illuminated so that if you wake up in the night you can at least see what time it is.Staff is excellent, location is great. Food prices at restaurants is reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room that faces Epcot so that you will be able to view the fireworks in the even...
