“Is this the best golf resort in Florida?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2012

My wife and I wanted to go to a golf resort in middle of March not too far from our home in New York. My wife wanted to stay at a luxurious hotel and I wanted to play at a nice golf course. We both wanted ideal weather conditions. Florida seemed like a perfect destination, but it was difficult to find an ideal resort to meet our demands.

According to Golf Digest, the best golf resort in Florida is the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne (#27 in North America). We have stayed there before. The hotel is nice, but sub-par for a Ritz Carlton, with horrible food at the main restaurant. And THERE IS NO GOLF COURSE. Crandon Park golf course is nearby, but it's a county owned course. It's scenic and the layout is good, but crowded with spotty conditions. You don't get the feeling you are playing at a nice resort.

We stayed at the Breakers in Palm Beach with the family. The hotel was fantastic and the kids loved it. But the golf course on the premises is a glorified pitch and putt. The second course owned by the hotel is 10 miles away (30 minute drive through traffic). It's a decent course (not great), and not worth the drive.

Only other resort we've stayed in Florida was Bay Hill. The course is decent and hotel is nice, but certainly not outstanding. It was nice to run into Arnold Palmer (who plays there regularly), but we are not planning to go back.

We've heard mediocre reviews of Doral (Miami) from our friends, so we decided to try Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples.

The hotel was nice, probably better than the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne, but not as nice as the Breakers, and definitely not as luxurious as the Ritz Carlton beach resort in Naples. However, it was considerably cheaper to stay at the golf resort than the beach resort, and there's a shuttle connecting the two resorts. My wife thought the spa at the beach resort was fantastic, and we had a nice dinner at the Grill restaurant at the beach resort. The room and service at the golf resort was very good. The only negative was the smell. The entire lobby area was inundated with perfume that made me feel ill.

There are two golf courses at the Naples resort. Both are not too crowded, with our rounds lasting about 4 hours, even after being paired with another couple. The service is good, and definitely feels like a nice resort. The layout of the course is decent. There is no rough (similar to Augusta), which was a nice change from what we are used to. The fairway and tee boxes were in good conditions. However, the greens were not in good shape, with many looking like a jigsaw puzzle, interlaced with new sod and large areas of dead or diseased grass. We were hoping for better.

In our experience, the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort is probably the best golf resort in Florida. But it's probably not saying much.

Nice hotel only problem is the pillows are fluff. Nothing to them and using two doesn't work. Sheets are great and classic good ritz service is top notch. Smart Bell man who know the town well.

This hotel was the perfect property for a long weekend getaway. I spent the weekend with my mother and we chose this over the Beach Resort (its sister property). This was by far the better option! It is much calmer and quieter than the Beach Resort, with all the same amenities, and in my opinion, even better service. There is a free shuttle that runs back and forth so that you can use the beach, the spa and all of the services at both places.

I would highly recommend the spa, as it has excellent facilities and some really interesting services that you don't find at every luxury spa. They also have a private mineral pool that is much quieter than all of the main pools.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and well outfitted. The pool is so relaxing and calm - with great pool side service. The food and drinks are excellent and the staff is very friendly. It feels much more intimate and relaxing without the huge crowds and the staff really can focus on personalized hospitality.

Also, we didn't play any golf, but if you are a golf (or tennis) lover, this resort is perfect. The hotel is dedicated to golf, so the course is stunning and services are rumored to be excellent.

Overall, I would definitely return for a relaxing break anytime!

Every Ritz is well done, but this one is really over the top, and the staff makes it so. It is about a five minute shuttle ride from the beach resort, but that means it is not as crowded, the pool always has lots of room and it is quieter. We spent some time at the beachside but prefered the pool at the Golf Resort.

The staff is right on the money; well trained, welcoming, sincere and just amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better get away.

The room, as with all Ritz's, was beautiful and comfortable. The bath was on the same level. The computer connection was a bit of a problem, but I wasn't there to work.

It is easy to see why this is one the highest rated of their hotels in the world.

The Beach resort was amazing, beautiful, the beach was exceptional, but I was glad to be able to leave the crowds behind and get back to the Golf Resort.

The food and service in the hotel restaurants were great. The Tapas menu in the lounge and the patio was very good. Try the chicken masala.

The wines in the main dining were incredible. The wine stewart really knows wines.

This hotel was a pleasure from check in to check out. A must see!

My husband and I are just returning from a weekend at the ritz. We chose to stay there over the Beach Ritz and are happy we did. It was extremely relaxing, rooms were impeccable and beds were comfortable. We visited the Ritz Beach resort while in Naples and noticed large crowds and also noticed that the pool area was not as well maintained as we would have expected from a Ritz Carlton. I did notice that the grounds at the golf Ritz were very well maintained and clean. Also, the beds were very comfortable and rooms were quiet. The golf resort is only a 10 min drive to the beach.
