We got on the road a bit late but got to the "track" after it was in progress. What a hoot! Had seen this on TV but in person, it was so much fun.

I had no idea there were so many variations on the swamp buggy. Today's events were the time trials, but the stands were pretty full. $10 each general admission wasn't too steep & the seating was right behind the starting line.

Loads of food, sun & people watching, not much shade.

Went to the races with my brother and sister-in-law last year, the first time any of us went. They had a ton of food and beverages on hand ( BBQ and cold beer). A lot of things for the kiddies to check on. The races were great watching the buggies trying to go around a track that had some deep pits where all that was above water were the drivers. The buggies were all types little jeeps up to huge home made vehicles. Check the weather if you go as there is not a whole lot of cover and it was really warm when we went, bring hats or something. We are planning to go again in couple of weeks, Jan. 28-29 2017

Great Redneck Fun in Naples! If you ever want to see Florida like it used to be, go see the Swamp Buggies at least once, then get back into your 4x4 and head down to Everglades City for a beer and gator bites! Be a Florida Cracker for a day and skip 5th Avenue for a change.

Picture a fair grounds with a very big swamp set up before plenty of bleachers. Now add some large and loud 'buggys' that look more like rocket ships with big wheels that race around a watery 'track' in the swamp and you have some idea of the mud buggy races. The day we went was sunny and warm (bring a hat as there is literally no shade). There is plenty of free parking, but get there early as the parking lot fills up. The gates open at 10:30 AM, but the racing doesn't start until noon or so and ends sometime after 4 PM. There are plenty of vendors offering an array of fair-type food, hot dogs, sausages, gator, steak sandwich, popcorn, cotton candy etc plus beer at a reasonable price ($4 for a good size plastic cup). Also, the food is not overpriced. We got delicious barbecue beef sandwiches for $4. If you have a sore back bring a bleacher seat or pad. There are plenty of porta-potties available, but at times there is a line to go. In addition to food, there are vendors selling hats, shirts and other clothing. It cost about $15 to get in and I recommend buying your tickets online in advance to avoid the lines buying tickets at the gates. This is a great fundraiser for organizations selling food and for the mud buggy park itself. You cannot bring in coolers or chairs. I didn't see many small children. I suspect they wouldn't find sitting there a whale of a good time. I saw many handicapped folks enjoying the day. It is certainly handicap accessible.

Think NASCAR in the swamp. Four, six and eight cylinder modified swamp buggies go around the course two times. The water is to six feet deep. You are really close to the action in the grandstands. Admission was $17, parking free and lots of concessions with food to eat. I especially loved the Gator Bites with hot sauce. Everything was reasonably priced
