Zia is a beautiful village, set in the most spectacular of locations in the mountains on Kos and as such commands views that are unparalleled on the island particularly at sunset. These views alone make it worth making the effort to get there. It isn’t the easiest trip, being located about 10km outside of Kos town, with a couple of different options of route, but each involving often steep slopes of twisting and winding roads containing not a few hairpin bends. When you add to that slow moving coaches which are frequently taking tourists there or just as bad , multiple low powered scooters that barely manage 30kph, it takes patience but it is definitely worth it. Although the main road through the village is dedicated to tourist shopping, this can be a big plus as you can source here local artisan made wares at prices unmatched anywhere else on the island. The shop staff are really friendly and cheerful and helpful. One bit of advice is shop around. Some stores sell the same items at different prices. Perhaps only a few euros but it all adds up. There are quite a few restaurants which are very much recommended, good prices, good food, good service. Behind the Main Street it’s worth wandering to see the “true” village. At the upper end of the village is a small wildlife centre which is great for children (as well as adults) and is really cheap. But the main star of the location are the views. We have been there several times and will definitely go back

Zia is a great place to visit in Kos. The sunset is brilliant and this Natural Park is a fun place to be. Walking to the top and see that beautiful view or just relaxing in the hammock on the top! Only 3 euro, worth the price.

My children and I visited Zia for an evening. It's a quaint little mountain village with beautiful views and a stunning sunset. There is plenty of choice of restaurants from which to eat and watch the sun set and a few shops selling souvenirs and the typical fake branded clothing. Our hotel booked the transfers to and from Zia for us. This cost less than half of what it would have cost if we had booked with Thomson so would really recommend seeing if you can find a local operator to take you there. My children are 10 and 12 and enjoyed the trip - not least posing for the obligatory selfies with the beautiful sunset in the background.
