“Great location, housekeeping good have been better”
Reviewed 7 April 2012

The hotel is in a great location, close to many of the attractions in South Beach and a wide choice of restaurants and shops. The staff is friendly and helpful and the complimentary wine hour is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the hotel seems to be short staffed in housekeeping. Our rooms were often not cleaned until 5pm or later, we had to ask for wash clothes almost every day, and some of the public bathrooms were often missing toilet paper - This was a little disappointing in a 4 star hotel.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had a relaxing and fun time. The onsite restaurant is excellent, good food at a reasonable price!

Room Tip: There is a lot of construction happening on properties around the hotel, so you should request a roo...

The rooms were not worth the price...sure it is a Kimpton, just a small handful of staff have the great Kimpton personality, other than that you have the typical Miami people attitude which is non customer service oriented and makes you feel like you are inconveniencing them. Was with a friend the first room was two beds and so cramped there was no room for your luggage. We asked for a suite but had to wait, It was much larger and requested a nice plush roll out. They have an afternoon happy hour of sangria and wine which is a nice touch before leaving for dinner. The concierge suggested nice places to eat and made reservations for us. The location is right on, you can walk to everything.

Room Tip: Free coffee & tea in the lobby

Stayed at the Surfcomber March 25th-28th, 2012. Check-in staff were very friendly and professional. Our initial room was not a ocean-view like we were expecting but after bringing this to the staff's attention, they immediately apologized and got us a much nicer room overlooking the pool with a balcony.

There was a big music festival during our stay and the Surfcomber was hosting a pool party. Despite the 2000 extra people there for the party, the hotel staff were very composed and seemed to deal with the chaos professionally and in a very friendly manner.

Room and hotel overall was clean and appears to have recently been renovated. Bedding was very comfortable and I really liked the Etro bath products supplied. Hotel supplies many complimentary items such as contact lens solution, shaving kits, etc., which I thought was a very nice touch. Hotel decor was really nice and attractive with a modern Asian theme. Free wifi internet (and other discounts) when you join the Kimpton loyalty club, very worthwhile.

Went to hotel's Lantao restaurant for dinner one night and had a fantastic and reasonably-priced meal. I would strongly recommend eating there. Great value for the area and the food was delicious. (Loved the Vietnamese sandwich and the ribs.)

Considered staying at the Shore Club but I am so glad we ended up at the Surfcomber. Will definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are great, overlooking the pool. Have a large deck for lounging.

my stay in kimpton hotel was very pleasant. even though the room is small, but it got everything inside and extremely clean and tidy. the environment is elegant and there is a beach belonging to hotel which located at back of the hotel. Besides, another advantage it has is the fact that it is very close to the famous south miami beach. The service of the hotel was satisfactory, i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to miami and wants to enjoy the best beach there.

Booked a 2 night stay at the Surfcomber to see clients in Miami mid week-
I am a big fan of the Kimpton Brand, so decided to give this new property a go.
The surf-comber is a renovated art deco property, beach front in a great location near Lincoln road and Collins.
The hotel looks great, the rooms albeit a bit small-are well furnished and nicely appointed.
I don't think there are many ocean view rooms due to the layout of the hotel-long and narrow with a courtyard/ walk to the pool area-I had a courtyard view which was fine.
I have always encountered good service with kimpton properties, and as an Intouch member they usually have welcome gifts-I received a 10$ raid the minibar coupon which is always nice!
All in all a great visit-would definitely return.
The only issue encountered was with the valet parking-Upon arrival the driveway was full of landscaping trucks-I could not even pull in off of Collins- (this was the case throughout my stay during the day) I had to circle 4 or 5 times, and finally double parked around the corner-and went to find the valet in the lobby-
I would have expected the hotel have the hotel have the service vehicles park elsewhere so to allow customers access to the driveway-or atleast station a valet stand down on Collins-
Hope this helps a few travellers
