This is our second year in a row at Tranquility Bay. We (family of 5) rented a 3 bed 2 bath unit (#35) just off the main pool and with direct access to the tiki bar and beach area; wonderful location! Once again, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend the resort.

We did not eat at the restaurant as I shopped at Publix for most of our meals. We chose to eat breakfast and lunch daily in our unit and eat our nightly in the area. Many good choices within a short walk or drive. We enjoy the flexibility of this resort and the quiet, relaxing atmosphere; a nice change from Key West. My husband and son rented the Hobie Cat and did some sailing and the girls and I were able to kayak with the dolphins and sea turtles.

Many wonderful things to say about this resort. A couple of minor issues were the cooking utensils and pots/pans selection. We made do with what we had, but an updated replenishment is due for that unit. Try to stay at the middle of the resort and to the east as there is a smell that comes from the facility next door (turtle hospital). If you stay to the opposite side of the resort, there is no smell. Other than that, we had no complaints. We'll be back again.

My wife and I stayed here when we swung down to the Keys for a night while in Miami for a conference. We were so pleased that we chose Tranquility Bay. The property itself is amazing - the lagoon pool was clean and warm. The entire property is beautifully landscaped. All of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. The beach has amazing views and a plenty of recliners. The only downside was the swimming area off the beach is pretty shallow and a bit rough. If you stay here, be sure to eat at the Butterfly Cafe (on property). Phenomenal.

Tranquility Bay is simply gorgeous. Although it is exclusive, it seems more like a neighborhood than a resort, with beautiful architecture, picket fences, meandering paths and lovely tropical landscaping. Each room or suite of rooms has it's own distinct roofline and looks like a separate cottage or house. The decor of our suite was spectacular, with lots of wood and light airy linens. The pool and tiki bar were great, the food is outstanding, and amazingly, the food and drink prices were (relatively) modest. The beach and swimming area was pristine and just right, we were able to laze about and relax.

We have stayed at Tranquility Bay 3 times; the first two times were in an ocean view unit and most recently we stayed right on the white sand beach. The units we stayed in (2 bdrm) are overall clean but the living room furniture is VERY worn and stained. The sofa had a very strong nasty odor. The carpet to the upstairs was also stained. That said, the bedrooms are cute and the beds are comfortable. The master bath had hair in the tub every time we stayed there which is sooo gross. Otherwise the bathrooms and kitchen were clean. There is housekeeping service every day but that is just to change out the towels that are left on the floor and pull the covers up on the beds. They did not clean the tub, sink, or toilet during the time we were there. The grounds are well kept. The beach has a very strong noticeable odor - couldn't tell if it was rotting sea grass or sewer gas! There was a tractor going back and forth all day hauling sea grass for two days which was very noisy and annoying. I would say it isn't a great place for families as there just isn't much to do on site or in Marathon. There are 2 pools; one for families and one "quiet" pool which is nice. The Butterfly Café is nice but the menu is very limited and hasn't changed in the 3 years we've been going there. It is also very expensive and the entrees do not include a salad. (For the money and the food, the Barracuda Grill is the way to go but they don't have a view.)

Room Tip: Ask for a condo that is away from the Turtle Hospital!

another couple and my wife and I recently spent five nights at Tranquility Bay. Overall experience fine. They principally rent self catering units - with multiple bedrooms, kitchen and etc.

We stayed in a hotel room. Decorated nicely - porch overlooked a lovely garden/pool area. However entrance was next to garbage compactor and cleaning center for entire property.

They have less experience on the hotel side. Asked for a porter to help with luggage. First desk clerk said they had so such thing. The other phoned and got someone to take our luggage there.

Not all desk clerks up to same standard of sensitivity to guest needs. Jasymn (sp) was exceptional. Was a concierge and expediter.

Butterfly restaurant was great. Dined there three times.

The room with a porch was attractive and large. However, sparsely furnished. The lighting was terrible and placement of electrical outlets all backward. Porch was great. No breakfast on site. Works for the self catering places - makes it problematic for hotel guests.

Getting room cleaned was, at times, difficult... one was always calling - then the staff would come - 99% of whom could not speak English.

I would go back - and stay in a self catering unit in a better location on the property

Room Tip: Make sure you discuss where the room you are booking is on the property
