Perhaps my expectations weren't as high as some other reviewers. I was looking for an affordable place to stay in Key West for three nights and the price and location of El Patio was excellent. The foliage around the courtyard is beautiful, the roof deck was a very nice perk and the outdoor pool seemed nice, although we didn't use it. My girlfriend and I weren't blown away by the room, but there was certainly nothing problematic about it. I'm also someone that doesn't think a hotel that doesn't wash your sheets every night has anything wrong with it. There are luxury hotels in Key West that obviously do more and have more amenities and those cost twice as much per night.

I thought Service was great, friendly and accommodating when I spoke with them.

For my money El Patio was perfect, a nice distance from South Beach, one of the nicer little beaches in Key West and close enough to all the fun on Duval Street. I would definitely recommend.

El patio was very close to Higgs beach which was a very nice beach. A lot of the times I have been to Key West in the past I just visited duval st and did not really pay attention to the beaches. It was nice to start off our day at the beach which was only a couple blocks away. El Patio is also close to duval st. (the slower end) but it was nice not to hear people partying all night long. We walked up and down duval the first couple of nights but decided we needed to rent bikes to keep doing it. The motel rents bikes right at the front desk which i found to be a much better way to get around the island oppose to moped which can be harder to find a spot to park.

The beds were a little stiff and noisy but other than that the place is great. It really has a key west feel to it. I don't know what is up with any of the bad reviews. Do people actually expect to stay at one of the cheapest and convenient motels in key west but get everything you get at a 800 a night hotel? If you want 24 hour room service than this isn't the place for you. But I didn't go to Key West to be laying around in a hotel either.

My husband and I stayed here five nights during a spring break week just recently (March 2012). The floors are very dirty. When we walked barefoot in the room, our feet turned black on the bottom. The housekeeping staff did not really clean the room, just straightened the bed, and dried off the bathroom fixtures. They put out clean towels every day but did not even give us a new soap each day. They waited until the tiny bar of soap was paper thin before putting out a new one. Not even having one soap for the sink and one for the shower. The sheets never smelled clean; they were only straightened. The gardening is very pretty. Disappointing overall due to the poor cleaning. There was a really bright light outside our room we could not turn off which made sleeping difficult because the room was so bright all night. There was A/C noise from a place next door so ear plugs were needed if keeping windows open. Did not want to complain while we were there due to being uncertain how we would be treated. For $189 a night we expected cleanliness and clean sheets at least every other day! The rooftop deck is useable mainly at night only. There is no shade (umbrellas, etc.) from the sun up there.

Exceeded our expectations by quite a way - especially liked the rooftop deck. Comfortable, clean and friendly.

Upon arrival we found the room to be filthy, after expressing our dissatisfaction they changed our room and charged us another $45.00 for the upgrade. No alarm clocks, no hair drier, exceptionally, small bathroom, no wake up call, limited parking, filthy rooms- observed housekeeping washing several floors with the same bucket of water, could not use computer to print boarding passes was told for office use only, floors were so dirty after coming back from the pool and walking over the floor our feet were BLACK. After complaining we were told we could leave they would refund our money, but good luck trying to find something else. Several times we complained to management and asked them to inspect our room they refused saying they had faith in there housekeeping staff. RUN AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL

Room Tip: spend a little extra for a known hotel it will be money well spent
