Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Upon arriving at the bike shop, you'll be fitted with your bicycle and begin your approximately three-hour pedal through town. You will see the highlights of Key West, of which there are many. Pass Simonton Street Beach, the Green Parrot Bar, Key West Cemetery, Higgs Beach and the Southernmost Point of the United States, just 90 miles north of Cuba. Of particular note is the Customs House, which presides over historic Mallory Square. Dating to 1891, the faithfully restored, four-story architectural gem was originally home to the island's customs office, postal service and district courts. "Old 91" is today a national landmark and headquarters of the Key West Art & Historical Society. Another slice of local history unfolds as you approach the Presidential Gates of the Harry S. Truman Little White House. Built in 1890 as the first officer's quarters on the submarine base naval station, the abode served as Harry S. Truman's base of presidential operations during his 11 visits to Key West. Of course, Key West also is known as the home of Ernest Hemingway. During your bike ride, you will see the residence located at 907 Whitehead Street, across from the Key West lighthouse, where the famed writer lived from 1931 to 1939. One of Hemingway's legendary haunts was Sloppy Joe's Bar. Founded in 1933, the bar was located on Greene Street, just off Duval Street, during Hemingway's day. The bar has since moved to its current location on Duval Street, taking with it its storied connections to Hemingway, who suggested the name for the establishment. Other landmarks on today's roster include Dog Beach, Flagler Train Depot, Jimmy Buffet's first house, and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, the Duval Street watering hole that embodies the laid-back lyrics of the beloved singer/songwriter. After returning to the bike shop you will finish with a slice of Key Lime pie, a refreshing must-taste here in Key West.

My family took this tour with James two days ago. What a fun afternoon! We learned a lot about Key West, got to bike around areas and neighborhoods that we would have otherwise not seen, and had our favorite slice of key lime pie on the island. It was the perfect way to explore and learn about Key West. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Taking the Key Lime Bike Tour was the first on our list of things to do in Key West and that turned out to be a smart idea, as the bike tour gave us a casual opportunity to see and get a feel for everything going on. Our guide was Sarah, who was very knowledgeable and explained many of landmarks and their history, as well as pointing out the best restaurants and shops, and just giving us a lot of great information. There are no bike lanes so you are riding on the road with cars, but the cars drive very slowly and everyone seems to be more than happy to give way to bike traffic. The trip is 100% as advertised including a great slice of real key lime pie at the end.

Making a reservation for our tour was easily done through their website. We received a confirmation shortly after making the request. Our confirmation included where to meet and other information for the tour. The bike shop was easy to find and is located very close to Duval Street so we were able to walk there.

Our tour guide was Clint and he knew A LOT about the island. It was fun to hear information regarding the history of the island along with what it is like to live in Key West year round. Clint also did a good job of keeping the group together. My husband and I really enjoyed this tour since we were only visiting Key West for the day. We felt like we saw all of the tourist attractions very efficiently so we still had plenty of time left to enjoy the island. Oh, and the key lime pie at the end of the tour was delicious!
