Owner description: In 2012 the iconic boat the African Queen was restored for her 100 year centennial celebration. In May 2012 she once again began plying the waters of Key Largo and currently offers canal and dinner cruises. We go out daily at 10am, 12am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. On Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm we offer a dinner cruise to the Pilot House Marina where passengers disembark and enjoy dinner in the restaurant before boarding the vessel once again to return to the Marina Del Mar. Dinner and lunch cruises are also available on request for groups of at least 4 people.

What a wonderful way to start a day and then finish with the movie, or maybe you want to do it in reverse. We arrived at the dock and checked in by signing a piece of paper that said we wouldn't touch the boiler. It was hot and would leave a blister. After doing that we met the captain on the boat and sat down and he gave a history of the African Queen, photos included! We had 45 minutes to travel out the canal and then circle around in the Atlantic. On our way out, there were storms on either side of us, but our captain sailed us right between the two storms. We did get the edge of one, but he was prepared with umbrellas. We had so much fun on our little boat right up next to the big ones! Take this cruise for an experience you won't soon forget! (And then watch the movie again!)

We loved everything about the boat, the captain, and the incredible meal we were served. It is amazingly true to the the movie, with the sound of the steam engine and the whistle attracting the attention of viewers along the shore. They have props like an umbrella and a bottle of "gin" that are great for photos. Also, the captain was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about the history of the vessel. I highly recommend this trip to any fan of the movie.

The ride on the African Queen so lots of fun. The captain shared the history of the boat and the movie which was very interesting. Loved how people reacted to seeing the boat go down the canal. I'm in a lot of people's pictures. It was a hot afternoon so appreciated the cold water on board. Recommend the trip to others!

This is the original boat from the movie! There is room for 6 people for each trip. Book ahead. When it started, the captain sat down and explained the history of the boat (prior to the movie) about how they took the shots during the movie and the post movie handling of the boat until it was put in service doing these tours. That alone was great.

They also handed out a binder full of pictures, you can get through the stack pretty quick and focus on a few.

The ride it self is slow and goes out the canal to sea and back. But it is an old steam engine and it does what it does.

If you have no clue about the movie, might not be as exciting. My wife went on the trip and had never seen the movie and loved the history and being able to ride in it. We are renting the movie tomorrow too.

If you are a fan and passing through, make the short stop and take the ride.

This is a must do for any African Queen film fan. And if you haven't seen this classic film you should. And watch it again before going on this boat tour. We arrived very early and were able to change the time of our reservation to an earlier trip. It is a wonderful boat ride with a chance to learn about the history of the boat and the making of the film. Great captain too. They do provide cold water and Gin, but someone poured all the gin overboard.
