My husband and I come to FMB every year for a week to 2 week stay. We like to stay in different locations located on the beach from Estero to Bowditch Park and this year chose Gateway Villas Unit #499. Our stay was from 12/28 to 1/7. The managing company staff were WONDERFUL as was the grounds keeper at the Condo. The description of the unit is accurate, the view is fantastic from the Gulf Front balcony AND the side balcony even through the screened in porch. The roll down Hurricane Shutters came in very handy as we had rough weather on our last night there. We were able to pull them down and still sit on the balcony. Several of them are need of some maintenance as they are difficult to pull down and even more difficult to get back up. The furnishings in the house are adequate, but the entire condo could use updating. The Master King bed was very comfortable, however; we had one set of sheets that were for a Queen Bed so we spent time trying to keep them from rolling from underneath of us. The headboard and side tables are in bad shape, cracked areas with visible nails hammered in. The bedspread did not having matching shams as pictured, just plain white pillow cases. Extra pillows in the closet but no extra pillow cases. The balcony vertical blinds could use replacing as some have obviously been mended and propped back up only to fall when opened. The TV is very small but again was adequate. Not too many channels to choose from. The Wi-Fi was good in all the rooms and front balcony but the side balcony did not pick it up. The sink in the MBR needs adjusted as it is difficult to get hot water unless you mess with it for awhile. The bathtub creeks while showering with any movement, unsure if they neighbors below hear this or not. The second bedroom with two twin beds as pictured. You could not look out the windows due to the condensation between the panes, same with the side windows in the front living area. The tub off the second bedroom drains slow and at times you are standing in water. The kitchen has more than enough pots and pans for cooking/grilling. No extra spices, only salt and pepper. Also no ceramic coffee mugs which I thought was unusual. We went and bought a few to have for our coffee. The cabinet that holds the dishwasher is in need of repair. It is cracked and bowed at the lower right side with shavings all around, not too visible but appears to be from water damage. The sofa in the living room is very comfortable. We were also surprised to find NO beach supplies whatsoever. There were 2 yoga mats in the MBR closet and a small chair umbrella that snapped shut when the wind blew but that was it. We purchased beach nets and few "must haves" , bucket and pail and left them there. There was a med size cooler and small cooler that we used daily. Multiple hair dryers and TONS of hangers which was very nice. Many of the lamps were without light bulbs, and some sockets such as the stove had 100 W light bulbs in them. Much too bright especially for a stove. The outlet situation in the MBR seems unsafe, 5-6 things plugged in one outlet with unsightly extension cords. This sounds like many things were "wrong", but it definitely was not anything that we felt needed fixed while we were there. Upon reviewing other units that were decorated very nicely in the same building while we were there, the price of this one is high. With updated furniture/furnishings this unit would be well worth the $330 a night we paid during the Holidays.
