Had a great experience staying at the Westin Beach Resort with my 2 toddlers last week. As many reviews state, the staff goes out of their way. The breakfast buffet and new Lona restaurant were delicious and very accommodating to little kids. We set up car services in advance with the help of Joseph Nesland - and he continued to help us every day of our stay, with restaurant reservations to suggestions for kids activities. Overall I would recommend this hotel highly, my only complaint is the capacity at the pool and beach. Was hard to get an umbrella one hour after they started taking reservations and no chairs. The pool we were always able to get chairs but it's very competitive - get your towels on chairs early! oh also, the pool bar was great for lunch, and very easy (but took a little long - coming from a NYC mom).
Can't wait to come back!

Room Tip: note that the king rooms have stand up showers, no bath tubs (at least ours)

A resort is defined as “an isolated place, self-contained commercial establishment that tries to provide most of a vacationer's wants, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping, on the premises. The term resort may be used for a hotel property that provides an array of amenities, typically including entertainment and recreational activities”. When “resort” is mentioned, the Atlantis in the Bahamas comes to mind as does Beaches in Turks and Caicos. The Westin Beach “Resort” in Fort Lauderdale falls FAR from the mark.

Granted I planned our short getaway last minute during Spring Break and did not have a great amount of time to research properties. There were limited choices as many destinations were booked. First sign should have been that there was availability at this “resort”. I sent two emails prior to arrival with questions / comments but did not receive a response. The property said “newly transformed”. The room I booked was promoted as a “premium deluxe ocean view room with floor to ceiling windows and heavenly bed and bath”. It proved to be a small, musty, subpar room.

The pool was small and overcrowded. While personnel encountered were cordial, they appeared to be understaffed and nobody went above and beyond. The front desk, bar, and other areas were generally staffed with one person and not once did we see a housekeeper (needless to say a towel change). There were limited to no activities onsite and nothing much in the area. The dining choices were not plentiful nor were the services or amenities that were offered.

I mentioned my concerns to the front desk and what was initially planned as a four night stay unfortunately turned into a one night stay. We were never so pleased to leave a property before. We were fortunate to make other arrangements and took an Uber over to Margaritaville in nearby Hollywood Beach. This proved to be a “resort” as previously defined.

This hotel may be ok for groups, conventions, or people in a “bind” but in my opinion does not meet resort standards. If it were budget priced it may be worthy but not for the rates we were charged. Not only did it not meet our expectations for a Westin and Starwoods Preferred Gold, but it failed miserably. Turns out that the negative reviews that I read and inquired about were on point. Very disappointed all around.

I love this location and hotel but am so disappointed with the cleanliness of my room and customer service from the housekeeping department. The first day we got here we waited an hour for them to bring us cream for our coffee. We were calling every 15 minutes to check what was the problem. The manager was not very helpful. Every day the room was barely cleaned. Beds were made, toiletries replaced but the room was not vacuumed or swept. Our used wine glasses were not replaced with clean ones and the crumbs that were on the floor the day we got here are still there. Although they gave us a room credit for food after we complained, I find this unacceptable service for such a high end resort. We visit Ft. Lauderdale every year but am not sure we will return to the Westin. We are here for one more day and hoping to make the best of it but I should not have to clean the room myself.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent stay. It is disappointing to read about the shortcoming you experienced, especially due to the cleanliness of the room and service from the housekeeping staff. This is not typical of our resort so i will make sure that our housekeeping manager gets this information to make sure this is an isolated incident and corrected moving forward

I was very reluctant to book this hotel for our spring break after reading some of the reviews. I’m glad I did. It is very consistent with what you would expect from Westin. Clean rooms, great service - from the front desk to the pool bar. We had a ocean front room with a great view. It was very crowded but that was to be expected over spring break. The pool is on the smaller side but that also seems consistent for the area.

Nice hotel with a great location. You have the beach crossing the street. It also has a big pool with beach views and a bar. The rooms are nice, we had one with a partial view of the ocean that was great. You can hear the waves at night. But the room was very old and need a renovation, is not what you expect from this kind of hotel. Stains on the carpet, on the chair, everywhere. In the other hand, the bathroom was newer, more up to date.
