“Villa not as advertised”
Reviewed 16 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The pictures of the villa are badly out of date and completely misrepresent the home.
1.The pool deck area was dirty with moss at both end of the pool
2.The pool area furniture was covered with spiders webs and had not been cleaned for a considerable period of time
3.The pool screen was torn on our arrival which we reported, however we suffered with mosquitos at night until we made a temporary repair
4.The pool was heavily chlorinated and we saw no evidence in the time that we were there of any pool cleaning taking place, if it had not been for heavy rain we experienced diluting the chlorine the pool would not have been used at all
5.The incinerator on the sink was foul smelling which we reported and a gentlemen put stuff down it, to no avail. We also tried to clean it again with no success
6.The pool area was also claustrophobic with a large white fence that was not shown in any of the pictures and there were houses to the right of the home that have been built for some time. The pictures you have shown must be at least a few years old, as no homes to the right are shown, especially as the house next door would appear to have been abandoned as the pool was brown and the blinds were hanging off the window
7.The air conditioning within the home was set at 75 and in the main areas were ok, however all of the ground floor bedrooms were far too hot and a first for us in experiencing poor cooling in bedrooms. Not sure if the central cooling was ineffective or if the lack of ceiling fans was the reason

Whilst the pictures of the villa are not 100% up to date as there is construction going on at West Haven they are only just over 12 months old in all fairness. We do state on the rental site that there is construction at this development which is reflected in the rental price. That said I accept there is now new homes on what were previously building plots so I have instructed my photographer to go back as soon as there is a gap in bookings to re take the exterior shots.

When the guest reported the smell from the sink maintenance attended the home, made sure there was nothing blocking the drain and applied sink un-blocker and bleach which would normally rectify any problem. I can’t guarantee that there was no smell at that particular time but this would be the normal method to remedy this type of problem and there have been no further reports of this since.

We understand that the pool area is an important part of the home and the licenced pool company are contracted to visit all of our homes on a weekly basis. They do leave a slip so guests can see when they last visited and when they are due again as is it not uncommon for a guest not to see the pool guy during their stay due to the early hours they start work and also the fact guests can be out of the home for extended periods. Its unfortunate the guest did not mention the mildew build up when reporting the sink blockage as this could easily have been dealt with immediately. It is of course our responsibility to stay on top of the pool decks although mildew can build up very quickly in the summer months with the high levels of humidity. Please don’t think I am making excuses here but if the guest had mentioned it we would have had somebody out to deal with it asap.

Although we don’t advise dropping the AC setting below 75 it can be lowered to 72 if necessary and again this is not something that has been commented on before but we will keep a closer eye on the temperature settings to make sure the room is cool enough for future guests.
