Having lived in southern France, we had high hopes of tasting again the wonderful flavors of country French food. We were absolutely delighted to find Le Provencal on the Miracle Mile. A beautiful, clean-lined interior, with tables that are not so close together to allow for a relaxed and intimate meal, and tables outside to enjoy the breezes, greeted us for our dinner.
We had delicious crisp rose, and opened with a Salade Lyonnaise, which was a great alternative to the usual Caesar - and thankfully not overdressed. Our main courses were the equivalent of New York strip steak with a poivre vert sauce, and the breast of duck (they included the leg too), sliced thin with a slightly spicy / peppery orange sauce which was a rich brown with a hint of orange as the acid. Both were PERFECTLY cooked, but the chef that knows his / her way around sauces is truly a French chef, and this was the case.
We ordered the Souffle with Grand Marnier for dessert, accompanied by a glass of bubbly, concluding a great meal that we found (coming from the west coast) to be a great value as well.
Marc was genial, welcoming, and attentive. We will be back, and we will send friends. I am looking forward to trying more of the menu!
