Very clean, pet friendly motel. Gave us portable dog water bowls and treats for our Cedar Key stay. We chose to walk a lot with the two dogs in town. Excellent outdoor time for all of us. We stayed in cabin 2. Full amenities and WiFi as well. Sat on a swing two nights in a row watching the sunset over the water. Friendly staff and great friendliness wherever we went with our two large dogs. Great welcome even at the restaurants. We will go back alone to do some kayaking and biking with their free loaner equipment.

We had a group of 3 couple stay at Faraway Inn in 3 cottages for the weekend. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Having free kayaks and bikes to use was greatly appreciated. We used the outdoor covered area with table and swings overlooking the water often during our stay.

We would definitely recommend Faraway Inn to friends

Another great stay at the Faraway Inn. Stayed in the cottages for the first time and they were very nice--much nicer than they look in the pictures and very well-appointed. Just can't say enough about the place as they make you feel so at home from the moment you arrive. Everything is so casual and relaxing on the island. The first evening we took the inn's golf carts and rode around the island and had a great dinner at Steamers. On day two, we had a half-day fishing charter with Voyle's Guide Service. My kids got to pull in 15-20 redfish in about an hour when we hit the honey-hole. They were coming in so quickly at the time that we lost count. It was incredible. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise on our final morning. Really didn't want to leave the Faraway Inn and am already looking forward to our next return.

Our only disappointment was that we couldn't take "Turtle" the cat home with us. My son absolutely fell in love with him. Might just have to go back soon and see Turtle again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about your Faraway Inn and Cedar Key visit. Your review means so much to the success of our business. You picked a great fishing guide and so glad the kids had such a wonderful fishing experience. Turtle is such a part of the Faraway Inn she truly believes she owns the roost. She is a character.
We look forward to your rerurn.

We needed to take the kids on a summer vacation before school started and I didn't have time to plan much, so we drove a few hours over to Cedar Key to spend a few days. The bikes and kayaks were a lot of fun to use. The cottage was wonderful...clean and new. I thought the cottage was even better in person than in the pictures! We brought our 2 dogs with us too. Highly recommend staying here. We used the grills outside and ate dinner at the one of the outside tables. The swings were also very nice to use.

Cedar Key has some dark DARK Sky!!!! Faraway Inn faces Daughtry Bayou which is to the Southwest. From May to November the Milky Way shows itself from 1 am to just after sunset to the south and moves across the sky to the west during the night. The two great things for a photographer at Faraway Inn is that just stepping out to across the street you get a great Milky Way or Sunset Capture and If you want to change a lens just step back into your room. Also to save some money it has many outside grills to cook on, also free of charge you can checkout kayak and gulf carts.

Room Tip: All rooms are ground level with close parking! Cabin style so to no problems.
