I stayed at the hotel last week during the hurricane and while the staff and management did an excellent job, I wasn't able to get a receipt when I checked out! The hotel had power and was staffed, but the girl at the desk said that they could NOT give me an itemized receipt. She assured me they would email it right away. That, of course, did not happen. I did look on my Amex account and they submitted a charge to my credit card that exceeded my expectations. But, how can I KNOW, when I did not get my bill?
I am concerned because when the hotel was running limited services, as people lined up to get into the restaurant, a harried employee was simply taking room numbers to charge to the room and our room number was already recorded when we got there. I pointed out that we certainly could not have eaten twice and she said she'd room the charge. I have ZERO faith that happened. But how can I KNOW when I cannot get my itemized bill.
I called the hotel and was promptly blown off and my only recourse is to challenge the credit card bill.
But that's NOT a good solution and if the property can submit a charge to a credit card, they can email a bill to a guest.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS...or it will cost you in time and money.
