This restaurant is so Italian that its sometimes hard to understand the servers. We got by this, however, and had a great meal, leaving with leftovers. Hearty food with rich homemade sauces. Be sure to wear your dressy stuff. You'll feel more comfortable among the suits and ties, also with the silk frock and high heel shoe set. Decor is very Tuscan, although a bit overdone. This restaurant is not at the top of favorites in Boca, but it fills fast, and we had to accept a 5:30 PM reservantion to get a table.

Not only do they not honor reservations, they snub you if you aren't one of their in-season guests. The food isn't worth the wait unless you enjoy overpriced food and Boca snobbery. Don't believe the hype!

We had a good meal here with our family, we sat outside which was nice , maybe we will sit inside next time as it seemed very buzzy , our food was good but very expensive , the waiter was like a robot explaining the specials of which their were so many because his english was not very good or his accent was so strong we lost track, which was annoying, I think also when telling you the specials they should tell you the price so you can judge whats worth having, overall a nice placed had a good time apart from the waiter who added nothing to this Italian restaurant ,

We had high hope for this place based on articles we’d read in the local press. The menu soon informed us we wouldn’t be disappointed with choices like Yellowtail Oreganata, warm mushroom salad, and poached seafood over linguine. Trattoria Romana’s strength is in their elevation of Rome-centric dishes, as well as offering a verdant array of plant-based side dishes for those not wishing to dive into cloying bowls of pasta.

The food at Trattoria Romana is very good, the ambiance, dimly lit and romantic. The irrevocable drawback to our dining experience was an aloof waitress who was imperious as she was apathetic towards meeting our needs that night. My fiancé and I tend to practice the Golden Rule everywhere, including, perhaps especially, when we’re visiting a restaurant. It’s simply good manners, not to mention karma. And we’ve both worked in the restaurant business and know how ravaging it can be. So we were completely puzzled at the way the waitress impatiently snapped answers at us before flouncing away to put our appetizer order in. Tellingly, our waitress didn’t introduce herself, and we suspect she’s had her fair share of less-than-flattering assessments on Trip Advisor and other review sites. So, in absence of a first name, suffice it to say, she bears a resemblance to a Zaftig Morticia Adams, minus the big-screen charisma, but twice as insouciant.

Since Morticia deftly and deliberately ruined what would otherwise ended up a pleasant memory, we’ll move on to the food. The appetizers took some time to arrive but were worth the wait: juicy and fragrant clams oreganata and a generously-sized Caesar’s salad with a lemony dressing. For entrees, we both ordered the chicken breast stuffed with spinach, prosciutto, and provolone cheese and smothered in a fabulous mushroom gravy. The chicken was boneless, tender, and cooked perfectly. Our waitress asked us if we’d like Broccoli Rabe with the entrée, and we accepted, only later learning each order carried an additional $10 charge, on top of the $28 for the entrée. Just know up front, Trattoria Romana operates in similar fashion to a steak house where all items are a la carte. Speaking of which, I ordered a side of Lima Beans because I’m laying off the bread, and while they had an appealingly delicate flavor, they were largely undercooked and a bit crunchy, not the velvety but al dente texture they should have been. My fiance's house wine was an eye-popping $16 a glass.

It should be noted that the support staff who served our appetizers and entrees were extremely pleasant and accommodating, and did more to serve us than our waitress, who seemed to spend most of her ‘downtime’ standing guard at the end of the bar or hovering near the cash register. When we needed her for more olive oil near the start of our meal, she was nowhere to be found. When at last she reappeared, she focused her gaze anywhere but our direction. Exasperated, I rose from the table and delivered our request to her, Pony Express-style.

Not the experience we were going for at a place with such an esteemed reputation. Our bill’s total for two appetizers, one side, two vegetables, two entrees, and one glass of wine was $140, not including tip.

Started off with valet parking and a car wash while we ate, can’t go wrong there in my husbands eyes. The server was gracious and recommended perfect dishes for us. They start with bruschetta focaccia and breadsticks which were wonderful. I enjoyed the beet salad which was large enough to share. So great! Hank enjoyed the perfect Caesar salad. I loved the Dover sole accented by amazing carrots delicious broccoli (what is that recipe?) and the perfect amount of mashed. Hank loved the Langostino over linguini. He finished every drop. Great spot for a pasta dish, seafood, meat, nice meat and cheese platters. Fabulous wine and cocktail menu. Try it if you haven’t yet. Great little cookies at the end of the meal tasted like my grandmothers.
