Charming, historical, beautiful! Got ice cream at Jessups. $5 a cup. Sat on the benches of Delaware street. Really cute shops with local artisans. The National park service was great by teaching the kids about American History. The kids earned junior ranger badges. Beautiful pier to walk. Playground was clean and filled with sunlight!

My family is drawn to Battery Park like a magnet. My husband and I used to go there almost every night before starting a family and now, many years later, the whole family is in love with this place! The park is a part of the historic part of town, overlooking the Delaware River. The pier has just been restored and the view of the river is lovely. If you are here in hot weather, pack some sun screen because my the trail doesn't offer much shade. You can walk, jog or ride you bicycle there but be careful with the latter - the path is not very wide. The playground is wonderful, too, but, again not much shade there. Nearby streets have small places to eat, so water and a snack are not a problem, if you decide to take a break from different activities that the park has to offer.

My suggestion is to grab an ice cream at Jessop's Tavern and take it down to walk along the river. It's a very relaxing walk with plenty of benches. Also a great playground if you have children.

Wonderful park we started going every weekend because our kids love it! to bad there's so many idiots smoking in every part of the park! Its like they see you with your kids and say Oh look! little kids there.. Let smoke right next to them. Went yesterday and the park was empty. Its was great until a couple went right where we were sat right next to our kids and starting smoking.. You would think the park being so BIG and empty at the time they would go else where but NO they go right where the kids are..
