Our family has taken the Cape May-Lewes Ferry on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed the rides. No complaints about our ride, the seating, or the snacks but for the life of me I cannot begin to understand why a ferry that is only half full must park the cars within inches of each other. People can barely move between the cars let alone get something out of their trunks. A full Ferry would definitely constitute a tight parking scheme but half full does not. The powers to be at the Ferry might want ease the sardine packed parking situation and ease people’s tensions while traveling. I don’t think this is some nautical law that has to be obeyed.

I found it very easy to book our trip online, although I forgot to use my AAA discount. Our standard vehicle was $20, and the driver and the adult over 14 were $8 each. We arrived at 8:45 a.m. and there was already a line. Gates opened at 8:50 a.m. and they lined us up in rows by lane numbers. Those arriving earliest were parked on the front of the boat and first off, although exiting was quick for everyone. While in line waiting to drive onto the ferry you can visit the gift shop, bathrooms and bar. There is also food available. There are police officers who will check your car so expect to open your trunk. They use mirrors to check under the vehicles and there are dogs as well, which gave us a peace of mind. Once you drive on the ferry you can visit the restaurant, gift shop and rest rooms. There are two levels and the seating is comfortable. Some sections have tables and you can charge your electronics.

This is a full service car/passenger ferry connecting Lewes, DE and Cape May, NJ, but it is more than just a convenient passage between them. The seating is ample and comfortable. The food aboard is good and not terrible overpriced (and there is food at the Lewes terminal, as well as gift shop and picnic area). Passengers can sit inside or wander out on deck to enjoy the air, birds and sea life along the route. It is definitely worth the price!

What a great service. Found this ferry service by accident. Easy to get to, great sailing and an experience that I would happily recommend to all.

There is a lot to love about a trip on the Cape-May Lewes Ferry. The ship is clean and impressive. The crew is friendly and professional. We enjoy the scenic water, sitting on the deck or just relaxing inside watching TV or having a snack or a drink at the bar. When we arrive a Lewes we stop at the outlets in Rehoboth Beach. An amazing selection of stores and no sales tax !!!! It is a great way to enjoy our journey to Virginia from Northern New Jersey and a break from the congested highways. It restores us for the remainder of the drive.
