“Fantastic! ”

We enjoyed 5 wonderful nights at Keld House, KeldFarm . Janet & John are fantastic hosts, and provided us with local knowledge.

The cottage ( a 2 storey house ) adjacent to the main house is spacious, incredibly well equipped, cosy warm, yet light & airy.
The rooms are very large and the beds extremely comfortable.

We often stay in rented accommodation, and I would wholeheartedly say this is the very best.
Such a fantastic location, close to Appleby and Penrith with the Yorkshire Dales, Pennines and Lake District within easy reach. There are also lots of walks right from the door.

“A Hidden Gem in the Lake District”
Reviewed 18 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We spent a week at Keld Farm Cottage, which was beautiful and relaxing, exactly what we were hoping for.

The cottage itself is exactly as shown in the pictures. It's a clean, charming space that we loved spending time in and using the kitchen to cook meals. It's a 25 minute drive to Ullswater, but anywhere in and around Kings Meaburn is brilliant.

Janet and John were great hosts, showing us around their farm and letting us take care of the Lambs there for a while, and giving us enough firewood for the entirety of our stay.

“An exceptional cottage on a working farm in Cumbria”

Keld Farm is a very special place. Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens had a wonderful 3 night stay while we were visiting the area for a friend's wedding. The 2 story cottage is one of the most lovely and charming holiday rentals I have ever stayed in. It is beautifully decorated and offers all the amenities one could want including a full kitchen, comfortable beds, strong wi-fi and a beautiful English garden. A special bonus is the grand piano which my husband and son enjoyed playing. The owners are warm and welcoming and our whole family enjoyed the experience of seeing what life is like on a working English farm. It was a truly exceptional visit.

“Beautiful farm location”

We have just returned from staying at this beautiful farm house annex. Janet and John were very friendly and helpful. The annex is very spacious and has lovely finishes. If u want the farm stay experience you could not go past Keld Farm. Our only regret was that we had to leave. The house dogs are lovely and very friendly, and the gardens are lovely and relaxing with Robins, and rabbits hopping through. The surrounding areas are picture postcard beautiful, just watch locations for evening dining. We found many places did not serve food on Monday nights, but we found a wonderful Indian restaurant in Appleby. The Butchers Arms in Crosby Ravenswoth has great food but closed on Mondays. Thoroughly recommend this lovely spot. Anne Adamson

“Perfect English rural location but short drive to Ullswater- gorgeous cottage”

We stayed as a family of 5 including a 3month old baby. Janet was so flexible with us due to the baby's needs, she greeted us all on arrival including her lovely dogs on the farm who love to say hello. Although the cottage was pet free which was important to us due to allergies.

The staircase as you walked in was so grand and rustic, the rooms were spacious with high ceilings, the kitchen was well equipped including an aga and modern oven. The beds were so comfy, and we fitted a travel cot easily in the smaller of the bedrooms too. The main bathroom was very modern and a powerful shower, there was also a downstairs toilet. The only improvement would be remove the personal items/trinkets around the house, the furniture was vintage but suited the style of the property. The garden was huge too.

We parked two cars at the property, and it was a short walk into the village. It took 10 min to get to the A66 or the M6 and a further 10min to get to the northern tip of Ullswater, 20min to the south. So ideal rural location and accessible to major roads.

We will definitely be returning when we next visit Ullswater!
