Smallish, but comfortable and clean. On-street parking that may present a problem. But well-worth looking for a spot. The lunch special is a bargain - a quarter roasted chicken combination served with fries/salad, plantains (fried or sweet)/ salad, rice/fries, rice/beans... you get the idea! No problem when I asked the waitress if a substitution could be made. The beans I ordered instead of a salad were delicious - spicy and served hot. The dark meat was more moist than the white so when we return, I would request the dark quarter. Both portions were extremely tasty; the skin crispy and highly seasoned. Do request the hot sauce. Yes, it is hot and salty but a flavorful addition.

The name of the restaurant does not truly reveal the Hispanic meals you will discover here at Charcoal Chicken. Extremely tasty and very reasonably priced meals. There is a bounty of food when you order any of the dishes. The staff is very friendly (they love if you speak Spanish) and helpful. A gem of a place!

This is a mandatory stop if you like spanish food. The chicken has a special spanish flavor and the way the charcoal it, makes it soft and tender. Their rice and beans are family portions and the tostones and maduos are the best north of the Caribbean.
The atomsphere is very friendly, it is 5 minutes off of i95 in West Haven, and the price is quite reasonable.
