We stayed for 5 x nights following an extensive Safari from Kenya through Tanzania It was great to relax and stretch the legs with really friendly and efficient management and staff looking after us. Excellent varied food and good bar. Excellent swimming pool and well maintained gardens with varied birds and small mammals.
We took a trip out to the nearby Arumeru National Park – which though not quite on a par with the real wilderness is very good for large mammals including an (escorted) hike to the waterfall with great bird photo opportunities.
Logistics to and pick-up from Lodge to airport worked very well with late check-out not an issue. I can happily recommend the Lodge. Only negative my wife had was the local minaret calling to prayer via loudspeaker waking her up very early in the morning (did not affect me).

What a great place to start our first ever trip to Africa, and of course, Tanzania. Arumeru Lodge is a wonderfully relaxing compound, and make no mistake, it is a compound, with incredible gardens filled with Dik Diks (don't ask, just go to Tanzania) and monkeys. You will find yourself completely entertained by the local animals. Bret, the manager, his wife and the staff are excellent. We've stayed in first world lodges that did not have the same level of service offered by the team at Arumeru Lodge. We highly suggest a walk into the nearby town with one of the staff members. What a great way to see how local life and if you are lucky (and we were), catch a glimpse of Kilimanjaro. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms very nice, and everything was quite clean and comfortable. Plus, being out in the country, a little ways out from Arusha, provided a quiet, pre-Safari staging point. If you are planning a Safari in Tanzania, and we hope you are, then start your trip here. One other suggestion, we felt sorry for the people who were just staying one night. Two nights really helped kick the jet lag and get you ready for your adventure of a life-time. We're off to Tarangire National Park.

Beautiful grounds and a peaceful gate away from the main town's rush.
But could do better on accommodating day guests that are there for a swim or short stay to just unwind and relax.
It ended up feeling like only in house guests were welcomed there with limited menu when we asked.

Dear Vecky,
Thank you very much for your kind comments on our property. We are very sorry that you did not feel welcome, but YES we do charge a little pool fee from day guests that visit our hotel pool. When two of our employees came to me after you had sent them away quite strictly, I tried to explain the fees to you in the nicest possible way. You decided to leave on the spot. While I understand your disappointment, I cannot see anything we could do different in the future.

Best regards
Torsten Doenhoff, Director

We started our 2 weeks family trip here at the Arumeru River Lodge and I'm so glad we did. The staff is wonderful. They recommended visiting a local village that's known for harvesting organic coffee. Samwell from Wild Tracks was delightful! He was patient and thoughtful answering my kids 1,000,000 questions and brought us on a tour of his quiet mountain village and his home. They don't have their own TA page, but I highly recommending asking for him for your tour leaving from the lodge.

Wonderful resting place and lovely atmosphere with delicious food. Delightful gardens and beautiful pool. Really relaxing place to hang out after a lot of driving on safaris. Beautiful animals, plants, birds and trees All around and charming couple who own the hotel and run it with a very personal touch.
