We were traveling back from Newport RI to New Jersey and stopped off at Norwalk to tour the Lockwood Mathews mansion. We decided on Brasitas for dinner and glad we did.

Nicely located, there is ample parking. When walking in we were greeted by a very, friendly host that allowed to select a table since dinner time was just beginning and we were one of the first customers. There is a happy hour at the bar, but we decided to sit at a table near a window in the dining room.

What impressed us first was the cleanliness and prompt service. Our server asked if we wanted drinks and they have a very impressive list of cocktails. My wife opted for Sangria and I would have loved a cocktail, but still had to drive to NJ afterwards so I just ordered a Coke.

Right after we ordered our drinks a server brought us plantains and salsa which is free. This appetizer was delicious, especially the salsa. Nice.

Quickly after that we place our order which was for Paella Valenciana and pork chop - Chuleta de Cerdo. Both were delicious - especially the paella. Dishes were hot served on warm plates. Server(s) was attentive asking if we needed anything.

Entrees were so good we ordered desert. An impressive selection of deserts, coffees and liqueurs. One of my wife's favorite deserts are flautas since some of her spanish friends introduced them to her. This shows you how well her friends made them. Well, she was thoroughly impressed with the flautas at Brasitas. I ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream and we both ordered coffee. This, as well, was delicious.

All said and done, Brasitas is an exceptional restaurant and one that you should take the time to dine at. You won't be disappointed.

A mixture of Latin flavor oriented treats from throughout Latin America. Oh. The flavor sensations you will discover! We have tried many dishes there over the years, and never were disappointed. Not really Brazilian, but a composite of South American flavors. Start with the best fried plantains ever and move on to something that will excite you. Great service and a friendly staff round out the picture, and a nice picture it is!

Our meals have always exceeded our expectations, the service efficient and capable and the atmosphere low key and always interesting. On our last visit, I have started with the shrimp tacos, which were served hot and crispy a a warm taco surrounded by fresh greens, avocado and a peppered flavored sauce. Decent wine list but go for the "margys" which are quite good and amply filled with great selections of your favorite tequila. My personal favorite entree is the crispy duck which is served on a flavorful wine reduced sauce that is seasonal. It comes with a spicy quinoa side topped with fried quail eggs. This time out I got the pan seared duck special served with balsamic infused butternut squash. I loved it. My wife had the standard steak dish which is always done to perfections. Got to say that this family owned off the run Brazilian restaurant (with a french flair) is worth a visit. This was our tenth visit and honestly, we have had nothing but outstanding meals.

We like this Brazilian restaurant for its “change of pace” cuisine. We had the swordfish special and the steak (Bistec a Caballo) with excellent guacamole as an appetizer and a pitcher of Sangria which was very nice. Brasitas in Stamford has a little more atmosphere but parking is difficult. The Norwalk Brasitas is in a nondescript shopping center but parking is very easy. Food and service at both are very good.
