We were traveling back from Newport RI to New Jersey and stopped off at Norwalk to tour the Lockwood Mathews mansion. We decided on Brasitas for dinner and glad we did.
Nicely located, there is ample parking. When walking in we were greeted by a very, friendly host that allowed to select a table since dinner time was just beginning and we were one of the first customers. There is a happy hour at the bar, but we decided to sit at a table near a window in the dining room.
What impressed us first was the cleanliness and prompt service. Our server asked if we wanted drinks and they have a very impressive list of cocktails. My wife opted for Sangria and I would have loved a cocktail, but still had to drive to NJ afterwards so I just ordered a Coke.
Right after we ordered our drinks a server brought us plantains and salsa which is free. This appetizer was delicious, especially the salsa. Nice.
Quickly after that we place our order which was for Paella Valenciana and pork chop - Chuleta de Cerdo. Both were delicious - especially the paella. Dishes were hot served on warm plates. Server(s) was attentive asking if we needed anything.
Entrees were so good we ordered desert. An impressive selection of deserts, coffees and liqueurs. One of my wife's favorite deserts are flautas since some of her spanish friends introduced them to her. This shows you how well her friends made them. Well, she was thoroughly impressed with the flautas at Brasitas. I ordered the chocolate cake with ice cream and we both ordered coffee. This, as well, was delicious.
All said and done, Brasitas is an exceptional restaurant and one that you should take the time to dine at. You won't be disappointed.
