At the top of the Omni Hotel, John Davenport’s is a small restaurant with a limited, but nice menu. The views of New Haven are unbeatable. The prices could be a bit better, and the menu and wine list could be larger. Still, it is well worth the trip. The restaurant validates on-site parking and sits 19 stories above historic downtown New Haven.

John Davenport’s is a small restaurant and bar on the top floor of the Omni Hotel. The first thing you notice is the panoramic view of New Haven, Yale, the harbor, and the surrounding wooded hills. It’s worth coming here for a drink just for that, but the bar snacks are good, too. Appropriately, they feature New England seafood. However, an even better option is Sunday brunch served from 10 until 2. This is among the best I have ever had, anywhere, ever. Of course the usual eggs, bacon, potatoes, and French toast are on offer, but there is also a carving station, salads, and excellent pastry and desserts. I had delicious roast turkey. Make a reservation in advance, especially if Yale is in session.

We had dinner at JOHN DAVENPORT’S AT THE TOP OF THE PARK and the first thing you see is a fantastic view of New Haven. We were seated and found the servers and staff to be extremely attentive. Sodas were refillable and the wine list extensive. I ordered the SMOKED SHORT RIB , corn pudding / red cabbage and sweet potato tots. The Short ribs were very tender and almost melted in your mouth. Ketchup was available. We had a very enjoyable evening and will visit again next time I am In New Haven.

We had a business dinner at John Davenports and the restaurant was elegant and with a beautiful view at sunset! The service was top-notch and the food was just as excellent. On Monday's they offer 1/2 off bottles of wine! The rose was very good

I ordered the homemade pasta with mushrooms. It was rich in flavor and well seasoned. For dessert the brownie cookie with ice cream was enough for 2-3 people to share.

The ambiance is formal yet comfortable. Dress is business/professional.

I highly reccommend this for a nice dinner night out! It truly is an experience and you don't want to rush through this.

Davenport's is a restaurant with a menu can satisfy the different needs of a modern family (as in our case) and probably also most business meetings. I was positively surprised with the quality/price of this restaurant as we spend 150$ between two adults and two children. It is situated inside the nice Omni hotel, at the 19th floor, with a great view of the city and university. An extra plus are the "rare wines" offered by the glass and the availability for a quick taste before making the decision. The environment is very friendly with experienced waiters ready to guide on the menu and we were allowed to split a main course between our two children. The kale salad, the steak and the creme brule were really awesome!. We will return ! (one day)
