The house stands in a lovely little village with a great pub and is the perfect location to explore Lands End, Mousehole, the Minack Theatre, Penzance, St Ives, St Michael's Mount and beyond. The kitchen/diner is a great space - we spent most of our time there. The kids (and some of the adults!) loved the small indoor pool which was great to unwind in after a day of activities and the dog loved the garden leading out from the french windows in the kitchen.
I would have to say that the house could do with a little updating and on a more serious note - it does suffer from damp which is not good for anyone with asthma or lung-related disorders.
We booked the house over the new year for ten adults and two children. It was everything that we could have hoped for. There was plenty of space so that even though there were twelve of us, we didn't get on top of each other.
The kitchen was the really special part of the house with enough room for us all to sit down to dinner together. There was also plenty of room for the New Year games.
The pool was a real bonus for the kids and plenty warm enough even in Dec/Jan. I can't say much about the gardens as it wasn't really the weather to use them.
We ate at the nearby pup which was very good. We also walked the 15 minute stroll into Mousehole.
The only fault I could find with the property was the lack of useable mirrors in tne bedrooms. We were in the main bedroom and the mirror above the basin would only have been practical for a person below 4ft tall!!
However, if you're looking for a peaceful getaway for a large group, this is the ideal place. Already looking to book again for next year.
A big impressive house, but dirty! It is clear that the attention to cleanliness is not pivotal in the upkeep of the house. The windows are splattered with seagull faeces and are covered with fingerprints from previous tenants. The lack of spare linen and towels, leaves you feeling as if you're sleeping and washing in dirt! (Despite the once weekly change of linen and towels)The house is outdated and needs renovation. The windows in the rooms are sealed shut because they have been painted together so there is a lack of ventilation which leads to a damp smell when the house is first entered. The beds are noisy and the only comfortable bed is the one in the red room. Despite the comfort of the bed, it is still unpleasant due to it creaking every time you move. The kitchen is the best room in the house, however the glasses and plates were dusty and unclean when we opened the cupboard. Overall the house is big and impressive. However it lacks attention to detail, which is obvious from the cheaply furnished rooms. The house sleeps 10+ however the storage available, does not match the volume of guests. I would not recommend this house as a holiday destination if you like to be in a clean enviroment. Despite this it's a peaceful part of Cornwall and ideal if you want to get away from everyone. However, I would not recommend it if you want to be closer to attractions such as the Eden project and fistral beach.
