Small restaurant, so call ahead if you can on weekends. Great atmosphere and really friendly wait staff. The wait staff is knowledgable about dietary restrictions - and gluten free bread available. The chopped salad is awesome!

Not a kids restaurant! It's not too formal for children, just they don't particularly want them there. No kids menu, though there is a chicken tender app, or a burger that kids like.

This is specialty pizza at its best. A quaint place and very friendly atmosphere. Wood fire stove enhances the flavor.

We went with friends a couple of weeks ago. First time for us and we all felt that it was a fair dinner. We all had the chicken pot pie- disappointed - "rubbery" chicken and little taste. The area we sat in was absolutely freezing in spite of the blankets they provided. Nice staff and friendly service. I think we expected more.

We were seated in a booth in the main area of the restaurant. We arrived early, and within the half-hour, the restaurant was pretty much full. It's a small restaurant with a covered porch area adjacent to the main bar-dining room- that porch area opens up when the weather gets nice. We ordered a California BLT and a special of Grilled Swordfish. The entrees come with a nice salad with fresh greens and vegetables. The balsamic vinaigrette is served on the side. The California BLT was a hearty sandwich on nicely toasted bread, with crisp bacon and avocado. It was a sheer delight brimming with flavor. The Swordfish special included a sticky fried rice with nuts and grilled asparagus with an aioli. The fish was perfectly grilled, as was the asparagus, and the sticky-fried rice-nut medley was sheer delight to eat- all in a nicely presented dish. We were glad we finally decided to have dinner here. Those on a budget need only look at the variety of sandwiches, all enticing looking, or the appetizers. There is a wine and beer bar, and lone diners can actually eat at that bar. Service is friendly and professional. My only quip about South Lane bistro is I wish they served lunch!

Valentines Day presented the perfect opportunity a couple weeks ago for our first visit, and boy did they deliver! Modern menu with playful plating, in a cool atmosphere at reasonable date-night prices. Highly recommend sitting out in the all-season patio. We were there the day after a big snow storm, in the cold-- and with the fire and heaters going it was a cozy setting.

For appetizers we got the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Rosemary Fried Zucchini-- both were top-notch. Both were also probably big enough for 2-- next time we might limit ourselves to 1 appetizer(if we can pick just one!), just to make sure we have enough room for the rest! There was a decent variety of beers to choose from- I picked a nice cream ale, from a local brewery which for me is always a nice touch.

For dinner we got the Steak Frites and the Chicken Pot Pie--- again, very fun unique plating of these dishes. The steak was a little more raw than my wife had asked for and they were extremely attentive in correcting the issue (and even topped off her frites when they brought it back out).

We didn't think we had any more room, but could not turn down the Apple Pie off the dessert menu, which includes 2 SERIOUS local favorites--- apple pie from Bishops Orchard right around the corner, topped with vanilla ice cream from local favorite Ashley's Ice Cream shop.

All in all we were extremely impressed with the menu, the location and setting, the service... will definitely be returning. The meal, plus a couple drinks and tip came to just over $100-- hard to beat that for this kind of quality and taste. No reservations accepted, but we called ahead when we left the house to get our name on the list.
