I can remember visiting Frog Rock 35 years ago. The only real change is that now it's a "rest area" that has a small food shack and some entertainment and antique"y" shop on the property. We had no idea there'd be entertainment when we pulled in but we did decide to stay and grab a bite, enjoy some rest at a picnic table and listen to the two performers. Performers were entertaining but our lunch was beyond disappointing. I struggled to give Frog Rock an average review but did simply due to the ambiance. The food was subpar - poor actually. We had a choice between the clam strip roll or "dinner" as the woman taking our order explained...so we opted for the "dinner" for $11.50. What came out was a paper tub with maybe 1 cup of clam strips. Breading was ok but clear that the oil was old. No fries, no coleslaw and we had to ask for tartar sauce. What exactly was the "dinner" part? The clamcakes were similar...VERY cakey. Too cakey. Nearly no clams in them at all...cooked in old oil and greasy. Very greasy. It may be another 35 years before I go back but I know we won't be missing much. You're better off waving to Frog from the road and passing right by.
