Description: Cute little eatery with lots of interesting food choices. We serve organic and farm fresh meals that are creative and nourishing to the soul! Kid love the kids meals and we cater to vegetarians-vegans. We go to the regional market ourselves to insure the products are the fresh and straight from the farm. We have an extensive black board that features and describes healing teas that change with each season. Each season we offer a class on Energetics of Food based on Traditional Chinese Medicine that will forever change the way you look at each meal! Once a month we do a dinner for charity. 100% of the funds go to do clean potable water projects around the world and Hedy (the owner) travels to many of these locations with Rotary clubs. If you are looking for decadent sweets our Cinnamon bun French toast or stuffed pancakes are amazing! We would love to cook for you so I hope you will stop by on your next travels! Peace and happy eating!

The Whistle Stop, A Unique Place to Eat according to the sign out front- does not disappoint. A small café size, quick stop restaurant filled to the rim with unique things, including the family history of owning the place. The seating is also filled to the rim inside, there are tables and a few counter seats. It was a little bit too much squeezed into an area, if it was crowded, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. There was also picnic style tables available outside for seating. The waitress was also the chef and did an excellent job. I had eggs benedict for the first time and they were heavenly. My friend and I shared a jumbo pancake which was cooked to perfection! Fluffy and smooth inside with a slightly crisp outside, OMG – I didn’t realize a pancake could be so divine!
The restaurant also sells herbal teas, offers cooking classes, and hosts charity dinners.
One stall restroom located outside, very private.
Street parking available

I was working in the area and stopped in to have a lunch. Had soup and salad - small bowl of unusual cabbage ginger soup and a nicoise salad. The salad was tasty and perfectly dressed. The place is embellished with blackboards highlighting the healthful properties of various herbal teas, which presumably are available to drink. I stuck with vanilla coffee.

I stopped in here real quick for a bite. I got the turkey wrap with a side salad. The food was delicious and so fresh. It was so refreshing to eat. The owner was also very fun to chat with. Totally recommend.

As I waited for my food, I opened a children's book to find a little maggot crawling around inside. After I flicked it off the page onto the floor, I listened to the person running the place go on and on about how she dislikes men. Though she apologized to the one man in the room, she still expressed her disdain for men and the cruel things 'they' do. She rambled on about just how philanthropic she is and continued in detail about re-using human waste for fertilizer and drinking water... all while we were eating. Needless to say... I lost my appetite for "The Whistle Stop".

Hello Ann,
So sorry our humanitarian work upsets you so.
What I was speaking about was our work to provide clean water and sustainability to extremely impoverished people around the world.
We choose to work within networks to aid women and helpless children to move past situations that have kept them entrapped in poverty..yes, and usually by men.
If this is a shock to you then I suggest you turn off your censored news feed and gather some real news of current events happening in the real world to women and children.
I have noticed a distain for the work we do..this I do not understand. I wondered if perhaps people are too sheltered or perhaps they just don't care about the rest of the world. I don't know which category you may fall in as only you can answer this. A good mission might help you?
We do a dinner party every month to provide funds for these philanthropic projects. That is the discussion you over heard. A customer was asking about our recent travels to Cambodia and Thailand where we finished a school for children and built a home, did a food, medical mission and worked with children..My question is.. why does this offend you??
As for the cafe, we serve whole food and our restaurant is very clean. We also give back to the world community for the privilege of doing business in our free world. On to your other complaint...
If a bug happened to be in your book then I am sorry.
Nature does tend to creep up in mysterious places.. I don't expect you will be back for our organic food. With organic foods come a bit of nature. take care now. Hedy
