My husband and I were excited to stay at the Sonnenalp, after staying at a wonderful hotel on our honeymoon that was also a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. I actually hate leaving reviews but could not find a way to write to Sonnenalp or LHW. Let me start by saying we should hold this hotel to high standards based on its credentials and pricing. Coffee was empty each morning we stayed there. Off season but this is simple isn't it?? Went to the breakfast buffet where they told us you can pay full price for the buffet but we won't be replenishing everything. ??? It was still in the time frame for breakfast and other guests expressed that this was a recurring issue. Again, off-season, but shouldn't matter at this establishment. May seem like little complaints but this hotel should be providing nothing but the best to guests.

My sincerest apologies for your experience.
I don't know when you stayed with us but your coffee and breakfast experience at any time of the year is unacceptable. There really is no off-season for us at the Sonnenalp. Between winter and summer season, when Vail does slow down, we certainly do not reduce our service levels. I am disappointed, as you are, that this was not the case during your stay. We will rectify immediately and completely.
Thanks for your feedback.

The hotel is conveniently located in Vail Village and is a wonderful place to stay. Our suite was on the top floor, quite spacious, overlooked the village and had a large wraparound walkout balcony. The king bed was extremely comfortable and the living area had a comfortable murphy bed as well. The suite had huge windows and was really beautiful during the day, but maybe a little too bright in the morning.

The bathroom with heated floors and large shower was fantastic. Loved the bath gels and shampoos and really thought the bathroom was special.

My daughter had a spa treatment (massage) and loved it. The breakfast spread was expansive and we eat at the buffet and also order off the menu. Food was delicious and the room was really nice, especially with the sunshine beaming.

It was a very relaxing stay, at a beautiful and unique hotel, with a homey feel and excellent service. .

Sonnenalp is SUCH a wonderful, unique hotel experience. The room was clean and quiet, with comfy beds, a spacious bathroom and plenty of storage space. The turndown service with water and cookies was a nice added touch. The location was perfect for exploring Vail on foot and convenient to the surrounding areas. The property is also beautifully situated, with a scenic and relaxing pool area. However, I think the impeccable service is where Sonnenalp really shines. Pleasant and courteous employees abound in this hotel. Every encounter we had with the staff was delightful. In particular they were very helpful when a member of our party became ill. Oh, and be sure to ask about and take advantage of the special activities such as hiking that might be offered during your stay!

On our first day at breakfast there was a person to check us in. When we walked by after eating she called us by our names as she wished us a good day. As we walked up the next morning and each morning after she greeted us by name. We ordered one regular and one decaffeinated coffee the first morning. By morning two those coffees were waiting for us. We had to unexpectedly leave very early on our return home. The cab did not show up. At 5 a.m. one of the staff members took us to the airport -- where we just made our flight -- in his personal car. We could go on. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. It also close to everything. We would highly recommend the Sonnenalp to anyone.

Excellent stay. Hotel is right out of Switzerland. Highly recommend the Sonnenalp for a couple's getaway.
Service, facilities and food are all excellent. Location in Vail Village is extremely convenient. Can't wait to return.
