We just happened to pass by and wished we stayed there! It's beautiful and you must reserve a minimum of a full year in advance to get in!!! It is wooded with tall trees, secluded and yet not far from downtown Pagosa. We would definitely stay there.

Jon Reed is in a class by himself -- the very rare, friendly innkeeper who works hard and knows what he is doing. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud, and there is antenna TV. This is a great place to get back to the wonders of nature -- and away from all those damn cellphones, cable TV stations and wifi. Who needs 'em, when you want to fish for trout? We saw so much wildlife -- bald eagle, beaver, otter, wolf, plus butterflies and hummingbirds on our porch. And, we caught a rainbow, brook and brown trout and they cooked up delicious in our fully equipped kitchen. Don't forget to pet the doggies -- Tika and A.J. THIS SPOT IS PERFECT.

Room Tip: Chisum is a great cabin for 2 to 6 people. Rio Grande is great for larger groups.

The campground was amazing! I am not familiar with the area at all. Google helped me find the cabin, which was perfect! Everything I needed in the cabin and even laundry facilities on site. My husband even traded a book at the "library" in the lodge. The dirt road was a bit tricky since we came in at 10 pm. It also rained everyday turning the road into a mud pit.

Room Tip: The Hondo had amazing views but noisy neighbors but it is a campground.

My husband has been visiting Sportsman's since the late 70's purchasing bait and other supplies from the store. Last week was our 2nd couple visit to the campground. We stayed in the Ponderosa Cabin for a week and took advantage of all the facilities in the Lodge including making cinnamon buns in the oven for breakfast! Our friends who were camping nearby at Williams Creek came over for burger night. We love the staff and all the campers who are super friendly. Thanks for another great memory you guys!

Room Tip: Check out their website for the different cabins, RV spots as well as tent camping spots.

Thank you for the review, it's great to hear from folks that have been coming to our area for many years! We're blessed to have a great staff and great guests, many of whom I've gotten to know well over the years.

We choose this camp ground because our other choice was booked. Good thing!! This place is spotless and has great hosts. The spots are small, but I managed to back in our 39 ft. 5th wheel in the dark okay. They rent Kawasaki quads, so we towed one to a pre determined parking lot on our way to the Continental Divide. It was a blast and the machine worked perfectly. When we returned, we paid the host $25. to gas it up and wash it. Trust us, it's worth the $25. It was a dusty road! After we showered, we went up to the store for a choice of free homemade ice cream and a free bottle of wine!! The ice cream is to die for. The sites are clean and green with nice green grass. The host couldn't be better people and their lab retriever is very cordial. We'll be back next time we pass through.

Room Tip: Don't forget the free ice cream and wine!!

Ha! I think this may be a review for a different campground ( we don't rent quads), the free wine sound great though!
