We pass this restaurant often and decided to give it a try. My husband ordered the #6 combo with enchilada, chicken taco, I ordered the Chile Relleno dinner with soft (not crispy) chile relleno. Our chips were fine, the salsa pretty good, the margaritas were not bad. When the meals came my husband's chile relleno looked like a flat, 4 inch square piece of road kill. Especially when compared with my lovely 7 or 8 inch long soft battered ones. We asked them to explain, they told us that this is normal for the crispy ones. Hmmmm. This is not our first rodeo, and that was the most pitiful crispy relleno either of us had ever seen.
So, in order to make it right for us (after my prompting) hubby asked for another, but one like mine, the soft battered type. Good customer service in doing so.
So my dinner was okay, but the chiles and the sauce are exceedingly bland. Liking my food to have some spice, this was disappointing. The chiles were nicely cooked and not at all greasy. His enchilada had too much onion, but he said the chicken taco was very good.
This should be an excellent location for a restaurant, and we hope they improve. We will not likely be back, mainly as we like our spicy. If you want some really interesting artisan mex, there is a place close by that does a fine job of that.

We remembered this restaurant from a previous visit to Estes Park and thought it was wonderful. It is about 20 miles east of Estes Park. So one night we decided we would look for big horn sheep and drive over the mountain to this restaurant which would accomplish both. However, it wasn't a big success. We neither found any Big Horn Sheep nor did we overly enjoy the meal. Five years ago we had stopped on the way into Estes Park and had enjoyed a most delightful meal. This time, one couldn't help but notice the very worn booths. One couldn't help but notice that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. While the food was fine, it wasn't the best Mexican we've ever enjoyed (unlike last time that made such a positive impression on us that we sought it out this time). It wasn't the worst we ever had either. It was "just an ok experience" which is not what one is hoping for a dinner out.

We enjoyed our meal the last time we visited Mariposa. Service was great, the guacamole was tasty, and the food was yummy. I really like the enchiladas. They have a huge menu, so there's something for everyone.

Since reopening after the 2013 flood, this restaurant has struggled, primarily with service. Last night was the first time that they have seemed to be getting their act together in this regard.
The food was good--especially the dishes smothered in their excellent green chili--but the service was also good due to the efforts of a young and energetic waiter.

I have been waiting for the post-flood rebound, and it may have finally arrived.
