Our family has greatly enjoyed this house as our base for exploring Iceland. It's a really quiet area, close to Reykjavik and the airport. The house was very clean and everything that we needed was there. Would gladly stay there again, highly recommended.
This is a beautiful, spacious, clean, quiet house right on the beach. It had everything we could possibly need, including washer/dryer with detergent, a well-equipped kitchen, and a helpful scrapbook of local attractions, and maps and brochures. We stayed the last 3 nights of our 11-day Iceland Ring Road trip. The kids loved exploring the beach, and all of us enjoyed the Reykjanes peninsula (especially the Seltun geothermal fields and the Kleifarvatn lake -- consider reading the excellent Icelandic detective novel The Draining Lake by Arnaldur Indridason). Reykjavik is not far, and the Golden Circle is close enough for a day trip (consider eating dinner at Ikea on the way back to the house -- they offer a delicious and reasonably priced Icelandic plokkfiskur).
This was our first visit to Iceland and the location is in between the airport and Reykjavik. We enjoyed the setting outside of the city on the beach. The house was very clean and easy to access. It is a bit of a drive each day to get to the attractions and the bus terminal but well worth the serene setting and the convenience of having a house with plenty of room to spread out and relax after long days of hiking.
We stayed July 1st through July 13th and everything was perfect. There was plenty of room to spread out and the view was fantastic. We would head out early every morning knowing we had a relaxing home to return to each night. Since the kitchen was fully equipped we were able to save money by cooking meals plus some days we were so exhausted from hiking or sightseeing it was nice to be able to cook for ourselves rather than eat out. We met Andres O and his wife and they were so nice and accommodating.
There were baby ducks and other baby birds along with Iceland horses right outside the windows. And one of my favorite memories will be walking along the beach looking for shells and sea glass with my family each day.
I would definitely recommend the beach house and we would stay here again if ever lucky enough to return to Iceland!
