This cabin is quaint and perfect for anyone wanting a simple break from the modern rat race. Granted, there are all the amenities you would have in your own home, minus internet & phone connection. The house was clean, too. My concern was with other random things, thus the 2 stars. The last one is a bit serious if you are concerned about the way sex trafficking, pedophilia, etc. has proliferated.
If you are wanting to make biscuits or anything with a rolling pin, you might want to bring your own. The cooking utensils, scratched nonstick pans, mixing bowls (couldn’t find one), etc. are on the slim side. If you are a foodie/chef, you will know how to make the best of what you’re given.
You will definitely want to make sure you have all the food staples you will want at least for the first day, because while they keep food left behind from other guests, and that is gracious, they also keep food from ALL guests. Some flour dated back to 2009. Um. Please throw away anything before October 2015. On second thought, get rid of anything not up to date. Maybe, just maybe, some of your guests will eat expired food, but most won’t. Fairplay isn’t too far, and I *think* Jefferson has a small store, though you’ll want to verify that one.
Make sure you ask for directions so as to arrive precisely. We were given the address to look up on Google, but not told that there were two Arrowhead Drives (what kind of town names two roads in the same community with the same name?!). So, we went on a wild goose chase with two children who needed to use the bathroom desperately. All we had to do was go straight on Arrowhead instead of turning on the other Arrowhead. Don’t get fooled!
There is also an intolerable vibration from the furnace, noticeable from the Master Bedroom. The only solution was either to turn off the breaker, or sleep in another room. Do not stay here if you are sensitive to noise, and don’t want to turn off the breaker. Sleeping in another room only works if there aren’t others staying with you in the cabin.
Lastly, the owner/landlord does not know the code to block adult programming, and can’t seem to figure out how to get it. As a person who wants to protect my children and myself from unwanted images, this is something that should be offered as a way to make me feel comfortable. What I accidentally stumbled upon while switching channels is inappropriate, and I am grateful that the channel was changed promptly. If you want to protect your family and self from pornographic images, do not stay here. The only response given was, “…use the guide button, and that way you can scroll through channels looking for programs that you might want to see and then select that program, without the possibility of seeing something that you don’t want to see.” Well, that’s all fine, but I dislike seeing even the titles. What kind of world are we living in? An addicted one, that is for sure. Porn is the leading cause of sex trafficking, pedophilia and other sex related crimes.
