Attraction details
Owner description: Sunlight features 67 named trails covering over 470 acres. In addition to miles of cruising intermediate terrain, Sunlight's East Ridge has one of the steeper runs in the state. Aptly named, The Heathen falls beneath your feet at a breathtaking 52 degrees. Sunlight is home to one of the longest trails in ski country, Ute, a beginner slope that winds more than 2 miles from summit to base. Sunlight also hosts some of the best tree skiing in Colorado with many aspen groves untracked days after snowfall. All trails converge at the base lodge, so friends and family can always keep track of each other

“THAT'S THE REASON IT ROCKS AT SUNLIGHT”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

As a recent transplant living between Aspen & Sunlight Mountain, I find myself skiing more at Sunlight than anywhere else. I read a reviewer comment complaining that there were too many kids on the mountain but the rest of the review was positive. That is EXACTLY why I love it up there. It is a mountain that is a bit "old school" and I mean that in the most positive way. It is a place were you can go, bring your family, friends and include kids and teens and not worry about them ALL DAY LONG. There is plenty of folks watching out for the young ones and as a more advanced skier, you need not see a sole under you ski class on the east side of the mountain or in the glades. If you check out the "HEATHEN" I can guarantee you that the only kid you see will be the one thrashing the mountain and leaving you with a dropped jaw in awe.
Not only is it a challenge or a pleasure for all, the folks on the mountain are like a tribe and most skiers are extremely friendly, try riding the chair with a stranger, it can be a lot of fun. As for the staff, I immediately felt like family and not that fake Hollywood, "glad you are here" but a real genuine "welcome to the mountain man!"
Nope, the future of skiing is the kids, if you want a challenge, well, the east side will have you rethinking your choice to drop in, it is an adrenaline zone.
Really most comfortable place for a day of skiing you could hope to find. Thanks folks! See you on the mountain!

“This is what skiing is suppose to be. Fun.”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

I like the value and the fact it is big time out west skiing with out all the hype. The people there are most helpful and friendiest there is. I never missed high speed lifts because it is so cool to be there.
