Okay it is suppose to be historic but it's a far cry from that it's just old. The Lobby has some historic moments but the furniture is old and dated. You "sink" into the couch in front of the gas fireplace. The elevator older carries 3 plus luggage but does the job if you can not walk the "Grand Staircase". The room had nothing "victorian" about it. It would be mostly 70's furnishings. Nothing "comfortable about room", temperature we were unable to regulate and even the staff are not knowledgeable "how to regulate". We were there 2 nights and looked for things to do other than being in our room. I had prepaid or we might have left.
No coffee maker/refrigerator in room, barely even any outlets!
There were 2 people that were friendly, John from front desk and coffee shop server, whom I forgot her name but definitely German by accent. She shared history fact sheet with us which would have been nice for front desk to do.
Sadly, I would not stay there again nor could I recommend it to anyone. Look at it but do not stay.

Room Tip: Stay next door and newer hotel

We stayed in the 200 dollar suite a night ! Pretty nasty !the rooms are very very dirty !!cobwebs everywhere! The bar tender was either drunk or high I’m not sure it was crazy ! The restaurant was even more crazier the waitress forgot our order after 1 hour and 10 mins she realized she took our order and she was trying to pay us for the items we did not get !!it was like everyone was tripping on acid or something ! It was insane!! I ordered a 48 dollar wine and the waitress ask if I wanted a glass ? wth ! And then she couldn’t find my cork to go in the wine bottle!

We made a reservation with Mark over the phone on the same day. He said no problem and put us in the Ambassador suite. It was more than we wanted to pay but the room one one of the only rooms in town so we took it. We drove up from Boulder and went to check in only to be told our reservation was for April 29th - a full month away!! And they have no rooms. We drove up and now are in Glenwood with no room to stay in. Unbelievable. We will never stay at Hotel Colorado again. They obviously have problems in their processes.

We just spent 2 nights here for a Spring Break getaway. The lobby is truly beautiful, but the room was worse than awful. There were holes in the walls in the bathroom from water leaks. The water in the shower ran all the time and couldn't be shut off. It was impossible to regulate the temperature in the room. Either you had the radiator shut off and froze, or with the steam valve opened just a tiny bit, you felt you were in a sauna it was so hot. The bed frame was broken so the mattress had a huge dip in it. The doors to the closet and bathroom would not latch and stay closed. Towel hooks missing from the bathroom. I could go on.

This is actually quite sad because it is such an amazing old building. I am not expecting the amenities of a new hotel, but would just like a clean, well-kept room. I suppose it was worth it because I can now say that we stayed at the Hotel Colorado, but we will definitely be staying at a different hotel next time we go to the hot springs.

Beautiful old hotel. Unique experience. Staff is top notch. If you are looking for the familiar and franchise, this is not the hotel for you. If you are looking for something different and opportunity to be pampered, this is the place.
