Stopped here for lunch mainly because it was convenient while out sightseeing and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! My husband had a Sloppy Joe and I had a steak salad. The food was excellent and well priced, however the views are what make the experience. Seating is outside at a picnic table in the shade overlooking the pastures where they raise the cows, and the mountains. It was an extremely enjoyable dining experience!

James Ranch is great for lunch and looking into a self sustaining (mostly) organic farm and ranch. The food is excellent. Be prepared to wait a few minutes longer than normal, but it is worth it!

There's no place like James Ranch. The setting and views, the out of this world burgers, the well-cared for surroundings, the peace-fullness, the friendly people, and above all the amazing James family. Whenever we can, Barbara and I take the 10 mile drive North of Durango to savor the burgers and hang out with the Jameses!

Our hotel recommended James Ranch and we were expecting a restaurant. It is really a farm in a beautiful valley with views of the mountains from its grassy picnic area. You order gourmet hamburgers (1/3 pound!) and organic soft drinks, then choose a sunny or shady table to enjoy them. We went for an early dinner and it was delightful and delicious. A hidden gem.

This is truly "Farm to Table". The quality of all their food is amazing. It is so fresh and well made. We had the BLT and added New Mexico Green Chile. It was so so flavorful. The burgers are also all excellent! Salads are fresh and the steak of them is so tender. They sell meats, cheese and ice cream in the little store. The meat is pricey but so worth it to know that it is 100% grass fed and free range.
They also have live music with burgers on Thursdays in the summer. It's a great place to visit to eat and relax.
