“Quiet, comfortable home near Durago”
Reviewed 29 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed four days in this lovely rental home located near Durango and close to attractions in the area, including a hot springs pool down the road. It was nicely furnished with comfortable beds, large bathrooms, nice kitchen and good laundry facilities.

Part of the time we had small children with us who enjoyed the orchard / yard which was smaller than it looked online, but still a good place for kids to run around and easy for parents to keep an eye on them. They enjoyed wandering about with the chickens in the morning. We even had a "Kodak moment" when three elk walked onto the property and allowed us to photograph them.

There are several houses close to the rental - it is not out in the country as we had thought it would be, but the neighborhood was very quiet and it was relaxing to sit on the porch and have cook outs.

There is no AC and although the nights were cool and fine, it did get hot during the day. Our one suggestion would be that the owners might consider installing ceiling fans, especially in the kitchen.

We did not meet the owners because we were told they were on vacation while we were there, but they did have friends looking after the place who gave us their phone numbers if we needed anything.

We would rent this house again and would recommend it to others.

“It was an enjoyable experience”

I am from Albuquerque, NM and I had friends (two couples) visiting from Minnesota and Nebraska who wanted to visit Durango and Mesa Verde. I decided to reserve a 3-bed room cottage and my search came across the Cider House in Durango with excellent reviews. Needless to say, the place lived to its online reputation and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A dozen farm-fresh eggs from "loitering" hens was a real treat. The property is kept clean with plenty of pots and pans. We had lot of fun cooking BBQ dinners on the patio grill. If I had to find something less laudatory, I would say that the amount and the quality of the ground coffee provided was too small for 5 people for two days; so we had to buy coffee. Also, we would have loved get those tasty farm-fresh eggs on daily-dozen basis rather than the first day only. Overall, it was a great experience.

“Mountain getaway”
Reviewed 22 March 2013 for a stay in July 2012

My family was doing a multistate RV trip and wanted a couple days with roots down and this place was perfect. Just outside downtown Durango and on the road to Silverton.

We also did a great day trip to Mesa Verde that is not to be missed. That place deserves its own write up for sure.
Neighbors were very friendly and the kids loved the swimming hole too!
