We recently visited Walsh's, not to stay, but for the Sunday carvery. It is situated very centrally in Maghera and we were impressed by the atmosphere when we went in. Apparently you can't book a table there Sundsy lunchtime but there was plenty of room even though we could see it was very popular. You do need to know how many courses you want to eat before you sit down because they operateca ticket system. You say at the cash dask which courses you want, pay and are given tickets to exchanges for the various courses. We opted to have starters and main course. I had stuffed mushroom to start and it was very good. The carvery is a buffet and the chef who served us our meatvwas very friendly and we had so much meat on our plates, I wasn't sure if I would be able to eat it all. We served ourselves to vegetables and condiments and sat down to work our way through the mountain of food. I am a firm believer in eating everything I have put on my plate, I hate waste so I was determined that nothing I had taken would be wasted. Everything was delicious, the meat was melt in the mouth and the vegetables unlike those I have had at other carveries. They were freshly cooked and not boiled away to mush. I don't know how I did it but along with the other three people in my group, the plates were cleared. Definitely no room for a dessert. I did see the desserts and they also looked very good.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Walsh's for Sunday lunch. The food was good and plentiful and the welcome warm. We needed the afternoon walk to work off some of the calories.
