We met with friends, visiting Melbourne, who had not been to the Abbotsford convent before. Setting great but we chose to eat at the bakery rather than Lentil as Anything. These were the only 2 options on the day. Regretfully the food was ordinary: none of us finished anything. While it’s nice to sit outside (it was a lovely day) the pidgeons are really off putting.

The abbotsford convent is a stunning location, right on a cycling trail by the river, beautiful buildings, shady lawns. Theres art galleries, cafe's, this bakery, all very lovely. From the bakery the food and coffee was good, but one particular staffmember who was serving was quite rude and particularly so to the person in front of me, who spoke very fine english but accented and perhaps didn't quite understand as quickly as our server would have liked and she was outstandingly rude and patronising to her, speaking in loud, slow broken english if that was supposed to help. She also made it clear that it was an enormous favour she was doing us to deign to serve us so close to closing. We were within 10 min of closing, but I felt that this was probably not necessary.
Anyways, the other servers were lovely. Maybe it was a rough day for them.

Coffee was good, food was good. You better keep a good eye on your food because the pigeons are your competition, especially if you sit outside.
