“Best kept secret in Cyprus.”
Reviewed 28 September 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Set in the beautiful Cypriot countryside this truly is a little piece of paradise - tranquil and breathtaking. That said, there are numerous places of interest, restaurants and a supermarket all within an easy drive. The apartments are spotless, very well equipped and maintained to a very high standard. We have recently returned after our third stay and have already booked for next year. We can only thank Shane and Neal for another fantastic holiday and for being such great hosts. Our recommendations... 1) Do as much or as little as you feel like - there are plenty of places on the island to visit. 2) Come again like the many guests who return year after year.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review - it is much appreciated. We always feel like we have managed to get things right when people come back for a second (or 3rd or 4th...) visit. So thanks to you both for letting us help you to enjoy a little bit of Cypriot paradise.

As you said you can get out and about to see what Cyprus has to offer because nowhere is too far in Cyprus or laze around reading a book or soaking up the sun - the choice is yours. Maybe the best option is do a bit of sightseeing and then return to the peace and quiet of Vavla ready for a hard session of lazing in the hammock.

Looking forward to seeing you both again next year...

“Welcoming, wonderfully peacful, relaxing and hospitable holiday. Idylic!”
Reviewed 24 September 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Not really sure we want to share this with people because we want to keep it as our secret destination. It is absolutely in beautiful surroundings of olive and fruit trees, the accommodation is lovely and the we couldn't ask for more wonderful hosts!!

We have made three visits to Vavla now and will return again for sure. It's Great place to unwind and relax. Not too far from the main road for visits to sites and beaches - who needs them with the pool!

We couldn't ask for more from our hosts Shane and Neal, nothing was too much trouble and we can truly say it feels like home from home only without the hassle.

Thanks for talking the time to leave a review - it is much appreciated. We are glad you feel able to unwind and relax when you get here. I think this seems to be a recurring theme from lots of our visitors... after the busyness of everyday life it is good to step down a gear and take time out.

We always enjoy your company when you visit and look forward to seeing you again in Cyprus soon.

“Peaceful Paradise (with cats)”
Reviewed 22 September 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Valve is so peaceful & relaxing you just sit back, watch the swallows flying overhead, and the occasional brightly coloured bee eater, have a glass of something, stroke a friendly cat, and chill out. In the evenings you may hear the nuns in the monastery down the road singing too, this may not sound like your cup of tea but trust me it is very atmospheric. We normally stay in the studio apartment, with a lovely view over the pool and the surrounding countryside, and just love the place. Shane & Neal are very helpful and will assist or advise you with anything you need, even down to helping with shopping if they are going to the shops, although there is a good (if slightly expensive) supermarket at Skarinou down the road, plus a butcher, bakery, petrol station, and small grocery at Choirokitea. For a large shop on arrival I'd recommend one of the supermarkets in Larnaca or Limassol though.

If you are a first time visitor to Cyprus there are a few places we'd recommend visiting, especially if you like seeing the history of a place - Curium (now called Kurion) with its rebuilt amphitheatre, temple and mosaics; Kollossi Castle, a place maybe visited by crusaders, and maybe even Richard the Lionheart; the House of Dionysius & Byzantine Castle at Paphos, near the Fort at the harbour; the Tomb of the Kings at Paphos; then up the mountains there is Troodos, and if you are up for a drive the tomb of Archbishop Makarios at Kykko monastery, then over the hill to Kakopetria, where there is an old mill and a beautifully renovated old part of the village (it may take a little effort to find it but it's is lovely). Finally if you are venturing over the border Northern Nicosia is worth a wander round, and further afield there is St Hilarion castle, off the western road to Kyrenia. I first saw it on a postcard many years ago and it took me nearly 30 years to get there but it was worth the visit.
There is a good beach at Curium, below the amphitheatre, which is fairly shallow for some distance, so good for kids, or further afield Coral Bay west of Paphos. As for eating out most small tavernas are worth a visit, especially if filled with locals. Try stifado (beef stew with whole small onions in a tomato sauce with cinnamon & cloves), or even better a meze which consists of a number of small taster dishes, that way you get to try everything and find out what you like for future reference.
Whatever you do I'm sure you'll love Vavla and the island, just don't come back too often, leave room for us to come back, again and again.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review - it is much appreciated. Watching the swallows circling round the pool is one of my favourite things to see as well.

You have produced a good list of sights to see... although it may be tempting to laze around, Cyprus has much to offer and it would be a shame to miss out on the chance to see some of the places you mentioned. No where is too far in Cyprus thanks to the motorway so a day out can mean you can cover a couple of places in one go.

Looking forward to seeing you out in Cyprus again soon.

“Blissful, sublime retreat.....”
Reviewed 22 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We have just returned from the most wonderful holiday at Cyprus Country Holidays in Vavla.

The surrounding scenery is breath taking, but the property is such a sheer delight.

Faultless attention has been paid to ensure as guests you want for nothing within the accommodation. It is spotlessly clean, has every possible facility within the apartment and attention to details others sometimes forget, such as plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware - not just enough for one per person! No need to take towels, or pool towels, they are all included.

The air-conditioning is so comforting at night.

Gorgeous pool which we had all to ourselves, and we could pop down to the hen house and collect eggs daily, and pick tomatoes or oranges to squeeze. Depending on the season the orchard holds all sorts of treats, such as fresh lemons, dates, cucumber, corn cobs.

You must take a car as this exquisite, authentic property is far away from any noise whatsoever, but a supermarket is about 12 minutes drive away and sells everything you could want at decent prices too.

There is a bbq and your own terraced outside seating area.

Shane and Neal are beyond a joy and will assist you with anything you need, although they provide such a comprehensive guide within the apartment and their recommendations for restaurants was faultless for those days when you feel like eating out.

This is a great base to travel the area or wider horizon, and a trip up to the Troodos Mountains for the day is well worth considering. Great location to draw, paint or write too I think.

We will unquestionably return and cannot recommend this location highly enough. We read the hand-written reviews in the apartment and clearly everyone feels the same as we did! The is a template for how you present a rental property and the costing is very fair and I would say very reasonable for the standard it affords.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review - it is much appreciated. We are glad you rate our accommodation so highly. After spending time and sweat on the renovations it is good to hear that we have got things right.

Funnily enough I was listening to the nuns today as I was cleaning the pool... and you are right, it does touch a spot. Perhaps it is because it is so quiet here that it sounds more atmospheric?

Having easy access to the motorway lets you get out and about to explore other areas of Cyprus. Although as you say, the temptation to relax and unwind by the pool can sometimes outweigh the intentions of even the most diehard sightseer!

Thanks for coming to visit... hope to see you both again soon.

“Idyllic setting where we had a super holiday with great hosts”
Reviewed 21 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Our second visit to this smashing holiday destination where you can do as much or as little as you like.Having, like many, very busy lives at home we did very little. It was great to while away the day relaxing either by or in the pool, reading, listening to music on our headphones, eating, drinking and sleeping!
Yes we did go out, usually to eat, in the evening and also enjoyed a few barbecues. It was lovely to pick fresh veg, collect fresh eggs and pick lemons from the garden.
There is plenty to do if you want a more active holiday but we just relaxed completely.
The Terrace apartment where we stayed is modern and very clean. There is a great powerful shower in the spacious bathroom.
The hosts, who are two of the nicest people, are there if you need anything but also just let you get on with your holiday. They are fantastic company if you fancy a chat or to join them (invited or not) on their terrace in the evening.
Shane and Neal have not seen the last of us! We will definitely be back!

Thanks very much for the taking the time to leave a review - it really is much appreciated. We are glad you had a great time... lots of people like to relax and recharge when they are holiday and we think here in Vavla lets you do just that. We enjoyed your company especially in the evenings when we sat out in the cooler evening air discussing important world issues such as where to eat and favourite cats!

Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future.
