Our recent experience at this property was the worst we've encountered in over 10 years of VRBO luxury home rental experience. The plumbing in the kitchen leaked, ants infested the countertops, used bars of soap adorned the bathroom sinks, the commode in one of the guest rooms didn't work and was dirty, the closets were full of dirty linens and towels - as well as the owners' clothes and junk, and it was as if the prior guests were exiting the back door while we were coming in the front. Lee, the owner, claimed to have cleaned the house along with his cleaning crew the morning of our arrival. Not sure how valid that representation was. Months of high expectations and anticipation were dashed within minutes of arrival. Despite being refunded the money by the owners (though that was a debacle in and of itself), we were then left to scramble for housing for 7 people in the Basalt area for a week's worth of vacation. Yes, the owner will probably have excuses for the condition in which the house was left for us, but after we learned that the house is for sale it became obvious that Lee just wants to get his money from rentals in the interim without expectations of repeat business. I only wish I had saved the photos I took of the chaos which greeted us in this house on arrival. My recommendation is to look elsewhere in the Basalt area. My suggestion to Lee is not to throw stones at these reviews. His house is, after all, the "glass house" in Basalt.
