Great place for a family of 9 to stay for a week! Great bedrooms, kitchen and family room! 3 bathrooms was helpful. We alternated days of heading to the valley with millions of people, and days of sticking around the cabin. The cabin is on the edge of the development, so feels secluded. Don't miss lower Chilnualna falls which is literally a 15 walk from the cabin! Another local treat was Alder Creek. Our only disappointment with the house was the lower level: it was only accessible from the outside, and wasn't clean. If effort was made to clean up & update the room it would be a great 2nd hang-out room. But even without the basement floor, the house was outstanding. They have both a evaporative cooler and attic fan upstairs, so no problems with the heat. Both Yosemite Valley & Glacier Point are 45 min drives from the cabin. Highly recommended for any larger family looking for a place to stay outside of the crowds of the valley.
We stayed the week between Christmas and New Years. The house comfortably fit 8 of us with 4 bedrooms. By the way, there are 3 toilets in the house. When I asked, I was told only 2.
My only real issue was with the heating. There is one central blower and nothing upstairs. We had to have it cranked just to get the house tolerable. We had difficulty with the fireplace. Between 2 families, we could not get it going successfully. Had that worked, it would probably have been warmer.
I think any time of year except for the cold winter months, this place would be great.
A note or warning, again for the winter months, the road leading to and then the actual driveway are very steep. We were thankful there had been no snow.
