I rented this house 19 years ago and enjoyed its spaciousness and great location on the Little Merced River. After all the snowfall this past winter, I knew the river would be rushing past the house in May with gusto. And it was! The kitchen had undergone a great remodel/updating with state of the art appliances and appointments. The living area is very spacious, WiFi worked well as did the TV (what little time we used it). I have rented in The Redwoods more than 6 times over the years. The southern part of the park is quiet and beautiful. The only drawback this year was the closure of the Mariposa Grove until Oct. 2017. I'll just have to schedule another visit sooner rather than later.
Cabin 64 has a great location on the bank of the South Fork of the Merced river. The sounds of the water are soothing, but not overwhelming and there is a broad (rocky) beach where kids can play. The water was high and unsafe for swimming when we were there, but fortunately it had formed a small, sandy wading pool near the house which the youngsters enjoyed.
The common kitchen, living room, dining room and adjacent deck made a great gathering place for family dinners and meetings. We had about 33 people for dinners and it didn't feel crowded. The kitchen is very spacious and well laid out for group cooking. With two refrigerators and two dishwashers, ample dishes and cookware and a big island it was perfect for large group dinners.
We noticed that the downstairs bedroom area was considerably cooler during the heat of the day (highs around 100), We noticed a heat pump but are not sure if the cabin has A/C since we never used it. The common area does have three overhead fans.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.
It's too bad that the Redwoods can not hire a leader to create a service culture. I love the location and this property but we've been treated poorly by Redwoods staff for the last several rentals.
