First, the surrounding area of the hotel is sleezy and an eyesore. There is a budget motel behind the parking lot where all sorts of things take place. There is a closed, run-down gas station next door, and the restaurants have closed. Only a Starbuck's, Taco Bell, and Del Taco are within walking distance for food. The driveway is awkward to get out of, so be careful of the fast oncoming traffic, which can not see you in the curve. The restaurant food is cheap and bland. I had only the breakfast and toast was old and eggs couldn't be done right. For the hotel, it's an old building that used to be the Ambassador Hotel. The elevators are tiny and the doors will not close sometimes. Holiday Inn took over and went the cheap route with the renovations. There is no microwave in the room. Some days, there was no hot water for the shower. You can hear noise and smell smoke through the bathroom vent. Also, parking is a nightmare if you don't find a spot near the front entrance. Although the walls are cement, you can still hear noise on the outside, in the hallway, and next door. You can hear housekeeping banging on doors and cleaning early in the morning. Wi-fi was spotty some days - kept making me sign in, even during a Skype call. I do not recommend this hotel for a long-term stay or business travel. The staff may appear friendly and knowledgeable but they are difficult to communicate with. You might have to wait at the front desk for someone to appear. They don't have much respect for elite members and are not familiar with the IHG policies. Not sure if they even had a manager on duty - just someone pretending to be in charge. Interesting though, why are the room prices here comparable to the HI Express in Hesperia, which is near more shops and eateries? I thought the full-service hotels offer more - not here. You get what you pay for and you will be thoroughly disappointed from beginning to end.
